She said to herself, opening the door where she’d heard the munch and scent come from without warning. “What is that?” She asked the girl, the girl feared and dared not to stare into Valerie’s eyes. “It’s just bunny,” the girl immediately answered, “I was hungry and I decided to....” She added and stopped when she realized Valerie wasn’t interested in the back story of how she’d gotten her bunny. “Lucky for you.” Valerie closed the door and walked back to her class, the thought of a werewolf feeding on an human always made her stomach churn the same way humans hunt werewolves without a valid reason, she sighed as she silently and discreetly walked back to the class.

Tamara smiled back. "I hope that you take good care of this little treasure. Should we hear that she's been mistreated or she's unhappy, we're more than prepared to stir up trouble for the school." Arthur warned him. "Valentine will be well taken care of at our school. It seems that she's already managed to make quite a few connections already. She has already befriended several royals, not to mention she has more than impressed the Lord and Lady Badica. Or so I've heard." Crispin grinned at me and ruffled my hair playfully.

Something unspoken passes between them. Valentine exhales sharply. “This is impossible.” He flips the flyer over, inspecting it like it might bite. His expression is unreadable. Achilles clenches his jaw. “I haven’t heard about them for a decade.”

Lily rushed toward the tree and started hugging it while letting out shrieks of excitement. Valarie laughed, walked under the tree, and let her fingers glide over the ornaments. "It's beautiful," she said, smiling at Elara. Elara smiled back and said, "I'm really glad you like it, dear. Merry Christmas!" **** Slowly, Arthur's eyes hiked to the darkness, and he could see someone walking very near him. Drawing closer, the figure sent the realization that it was Valarie. He reached out to touch her, but mischief colored her smile as she dashed off behind a curtain.

"You could say that." "Valentine's Day is hell." He says it like a fact, not a suggestion. "Worst holiday ever invented. Just manufactured pressure to prove something that shouldn't need proving." "You're not romantic then." "I was once romantic." His smile was sad. "Then I learned that romance and love are different things. Romance is just performance. Love is simply showing up when it's not pretty." I opened the door wider. I don't know why. Maybe because he's the first person all night who hasn't looked at me with pity or guilt or expectation.
