Chapter 53 — The Threat You Don’t See (Point of View: Valeria) The elevator climbed slowly, but Valeria didn’t care. She had her phone in one hand, her purse in the other, and the keys to Adrián’s apartment dangling from one finger, chiming softly—a sound that brought a satisfied smile to her lips. She still had access. She could still get in. And that was enough. She dialed her cousin Diana. Diana answered on the second ring.

Every single day and night since Ruby had been taken, Diana had humiliated her and tortured her. Hayley looked at Diana, now bound and helpless, and pulled out a vial of serum from her inventory. It was the same kind she had taken from the Sovereign Research Institute. If that was what they had created, then Diana could try it for herself. The moment Diana saw the vial, real fear finally filled her eyes. "Let's go." Half a minute later, Hayley carried Ruby out of the heavily secured chamber on her back. Ding! [Two individuals verified.]

Lila's pov Damon placed a black mask over his face. “Let’s see how long your dear Hyperion can last.” The moment he finished speaking, the ceiling above exploded as the prime order burst through, descending into the chamber. Hyperion, glowing with solar energy, was at the forefront, his eyes blazing with intensity. Behind him, Electra’s hands crackled with electricity, Sentinel stood mid-air, his telekinetic powers at the ready, and Tempest rode in on a gust of wind.

Valeria takes a deep breath before saying, “It’s far from bullshit. She’s the kindest woman I have ever met in my life despite being an Alpha Heir.” I can almost feel Ares’s cold gaze. “And what do you wish to say with that?” “I don’t wish to say anything. But I want you to do something, and that is to come to her right now and take back your rejection.” “What?” Ares thunders. “Valeria--”

“You’re right. We have to catch it, is what you’re asking?” I huffed a short laugh. “You make that sound like we’ll hop around with a fishing net just…looking for curses.” “Well, we’ve got a library with access to everything we need,” she pointed back at the mansion. We hadn’t gone back to Wolfdom yet. “Might as well use it to give us a ‘fishing net’, don’t you think?” I stood with a nod. “We’ll need Diana. Her clairvoyance could guide us straight to what we’re looking for.”

As the two reunite, outside the door, Diana stood up as she secretly glared at Raine and clenched her fist. Meanwhile, from afar, Valentina noticed how Diana hold herself. Valentina let out a scoff, “Pathetic.” ~ KL •Season One• R18GB

On the plus side, it was far too late in the day for us to be heading back to Valkyrie HQ, so I’d be spending the night in his arms, which sometimes, is all you need as a stress relief. Sighing, I kicked my feet up, pulling out my phone and calling Ironclad, the current president of the Gearless Knights. I don’t have the best working relationship with the Gearless Knights, so I knew this was going to be interesting, to put it politely. Ironclad: Duchess, that’s not a name I see pop up on my phone often. What’s happening in the world of the Valkyrie? The Duchess: Ironclad, good to speak with you. I don’t know if it’s gotten to you through the grapevine yet, but I recently took over and integr

Evelyn’s voice, crisp and businesslike: “The Valkyrie offer is lower than the Zorya bid upfront, but the long-term service contract and the clean, deniable nature of the partnership is worth the discount. They have the infrastructure to deploy the ‘Quiet Hour’ protocol with surgical precision. The Zorya would just cause a panic and try to extort everyone. Valkyrie will lease the silence to the highest bidder, again and again.”

"Don't lie to me, Rohan. I know you're attracted to her, she's allowing you to be attracted to her. And I think she's using you. God knows if you haven't done anything with her yet" My hackles rose at that. "What are you talking about?" "I think Valerie is a criminal," Diana said, her voice dripping with venom. "I think she's working for the other town, trying to get information from you." She said which I knew was a Total lie because I lied to her.

"Diana, get a team to secure her belongings." Twenty minutes later, I sat in Val's office, my whole body still trembling. The twins had finally fallen asleep in my arms. Val stood by the window, his shoulders tense. "The captured rogue?" I asked. "Talking. Diana's very persuasive." He turned to face me. "Black Gold Pack. Sent by someone high-ranking, but not Alpha Joshua directly." Something flickered in his expression when he said Joshua's name. Not quite jealousy, but close. Diana entered, dropping a small pouch on Val's desk. "He was carrying these."
