I took a small sip of water. For a few moments, I allowed myself to forget where I was. Then someone approached. 'Lady Ashcroft?' I turned. A young vampire stood before me. He couldn't have been much older than me, though something about his eyes suggested he had lived far longer. He bowed slightly. 'May I have this dance?' He asks, politely. I glanced toward the dance floor.

His limbs were ripped from their sockets, torn apart piece by piece. “Ah,” I let out a sharp gasp watching the gruesome sight and then realizing it was no different from what Rowan wanted to do. This scene would be a ghastly feast for any vampire, a sight that was capable of satisfying their darkest and most depraved desires - blood. And yet, this was exactly the kind of slaughter that Rowan had been craving. “Are you alright?” Alpha Axel asked me suddenly, his eyes scanning my face. “Y-yes. I am,” came my reply, with an affirmative nod.

My eyes drifted to the woman and saw her blazing red eyes staring at Jaxon intently. "What are you doing to him?! Stop it!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. I remembered Carter had told me that vampires who were born and didn't undergo transition can acquire unique abilities. And what this woman was doing must be her ability. "Why would I? I am enjoying this," the woman said evilly. Tears formed in my eyes as I witnessed how Jaxon kept on shrieking in pain.
