**Freya's POV** I woke up to warmth, an arm was draped across my waist. My eyes snapped open. Gray walls. Heavy curtains. A bed that wasn't mine. And behind me, pressed against my back, was Dante. His chest rose and fell slowly. His breath was warm against my neck. His face, what I could see of it when I turned my head slightly, looked younger and less dangerous in sleep. Then the memories came flooding back. The drug. The sex. The bite.

Louella said weakly. “And I need my lover back,” Freya said with clear hostility. She stayed in quiet deliberation while she watched Louella gnash her teeth in desperation. Finally deciding what to do, she smiled slowly. “Never mind, Louella, I won’t let you die. I’ll feed you just enough to keep you alive while you enjoy your new home. Don’t worry about your son. He’s healthy and happy in the arms of his daddy.” As she left the shed to fetch some blood for the newly turned vampire she said through a thin smile and clenched teeth, “Vengeance is mine.”

I say. Freya perks up, "Okay. Your turn." "I was briefed you were running from a vampire on your way here. Do you know who they were?" Her face turns pale. "Vam...vam...vampire," she mumbles to herself in a voice I can barely hear. "Did you?" I press. "I never knew he was one," she claims. Her confident stance falls apart, and now she's back to the frail girl I first met. The way she is shaking makes me want to wrap her in my arms to protect her. Freya's acting as if she is truly afraid, so this must mean she is not working with him.

Kyro keeps his silence for a long moment, and my words slip without my knowledge. "You follow her because it isn't survival you seek; it's death," I breathe, his evil eyes burning through mine. I'm not intimidated by it, as I bore my gaze through his with equal determination. "Who/what is she?" Kyro pauses, keeping his silence as his gaze impairs mine, searching for something, but I don't know what? "Freya is a Fae… wielding two elements," a suffocating air of shock hangs over us. What the fuck shit...?

Blackout city. “Morning, sleeping beauty,” Freya’s voice cut through the fog. She was perched on the edge of her bed, already dressed in her training gear, arms crossed like she was waiting for me to confess to murder. “You gonna tell us how you ended up getting carried home by the hot vampire, or do we have to guess?” I sat up too fast and the room spun. “What?”

I thought it was just lust, but I guess there was still a place in his heart for me. He smashed his lips onto mine, and I felt the urge to taste him when he did. Not him specifically, but his blood. I bit down on his lip with my fang and pierced the skin, allowing a tiny trickle of blood to enter my mouth. He hissed and pulled away, and for a second, I thought my vampire side had scared him off.
