Vanitas X Jeanne Novels & Stories

A few days later, Hylton came to find me. He looked much more haggard, with heavy dark circles under his eyes. His suit was wrinkled, and all traces of his former confidence were gone. He asked to meet at a quiet café. Across the small round table, he slid a USB drive in front of me. "Lina, I've avenged you." His voice was hoarse, filled with a desperate urge to prove something. I didn't touch the USB. I just looked at him silently.

Once the burn on my wrist had completely faded, Jayce took me to pick out an evening gown. Outside the boutique, Liam appeared before me once more for the first time in a long time, holding a bouquet of lisianthuses. "I'm not marrying Vivi anymore, Michelle. I've finally worked out my feelings recently. You're the only person I like now!" he said. I turned my head away, feeling slightly disgusted. The moment I saw him, the scene of him kneeling and proposing to Vivi on my birthday replayed more and more vividly in my mind.

~~Katherine~~ My stomach tightened as Harry approached us. He looked exactly like Zane. Or was I tweaking? Zane was just three when I lost him. My heart raced faster as Harry's sharp gaze shifted to me. “Who is this?” He asked. “Oh, this is…” Vanessa's voice trailed off. She turned to look at me. “I'm sorry, what was your name again?” I swallowed hard.“Katherine” I managed to let out, my voice barely above a whisper. “My name is Katherine”

Since my parents were killed in a pack war five years ago, Adrian was the only family I had left. But now that he had betrayed me, he was no longer my family. "Elder Slone, that won't be necessary. Please submit a request to activate the Moon Goddess's Veil and erase all records of my existence." Her surprised voice came through. "Why? Once the Veil is activated, the person known as Camilla will completely disappear from the werewolf world. Your Alpha will lose his mind." I gave a bitter laugh. "He won't. He betrayed our mate bond."

"Say something! Natalia Blackwood, I'll only say this once. If you ever do this to yourself again, I won't save you. I'll let you die!" Darius' voice carried the same disgust he had shown me in my past life after Celeste's death. Tears welled up in my eyes as I nodded. "Alright. I won't hurt myself again, and I won't bother you anymore." After a brief hesitation, I tugged lightly at Darius' sleeve, blinking nervously. "Could you… pat my head one last time? Just once." Almost immediately, disgust flickered across his face. His brows furrowed as he pulled away.

“Jane told the truth. Her parents were executed. Her mate died under suspicious circumstances. They’re cleaning their mess by pushing survivors out.” My jaw clenched. “They think fear will keep them safe.” James met his gaze. “Fear always makes enemies.” We shared a look. Not as Alpha and Beta. But as Friends Friends. “We’ll move carefully,” I said. “Not yet.” James nodded. “I trust you.” Another knock interrupted them. Vanessa entered without waiting. Her clothes barely covered her body, dark hair pulled back. She moved with confidence, eyes locking on me immediately. “I heard the moon was brutal,” she said.

When she opened them again, fear filled her gaze. Real fear. The kind that couldn't be faked. The woman nodded. "My name is Vanessa Kane." Marcus groaned loudly. "Of course she has a dramatic villain name." Nobody paid attention to him. Everyone was staring at Valerie. Valerie swallowed hard. "I thought you were dead." Vanessa laughed softly. "You should know better than anyone that death can be useful." The words sent chills through Ama's body. Vanessa began walking slowly through the tunnel. Confident.

Suddenly, Chantelle's eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at Delcan. A smile spread across her face, and she reached up to touch his cheek. "Hi," she said softly. Delcan felt his heart skip a beat. He had never seen her look at him like that before. "I didn't mean to wake you," he said, his voice low and gentle. Chantelle sat up and took his hand in hers. "You didn't," she said. "I was just resting my eyes." She looked down at the outfit she was wearing and blushed. "What do you think?"

Lydia stood in the center of it all, frozen. Adrian remained motionless beside her. That stillness was more dangerous than rage. Harris continued. “I dislike repetition, so I’ll make this simple.” He reached down and lifted Vanessa’s chin with two fingers. She flinched. “Miss Sterling—soon to be Miss Nobody—has become inefficient.” Vanessa spat blood at him. He laughed softly and wiped his cheek with a folded handkerchief. “Yet even damaged assets can be useful.” Then he looked straight into the camera again. “Lydia.”

… After days of searching with no trace of Winter, Liam received devastating news from Sebastian that afternoon. "You're saying Winnie erased her identity records? You can't find anything?" Sebastian repeated carefully over the phone. "Yes. Mrs. Jager has deactivated her phone number and all social media accounts. Honestly, Mr. Jager, she's cut off every possible trail. She doesn't want to be found. This likely means—" Liam sat alone at a bar as he downed drink after drink. His phone buzzed nonstop on the counter. Regina's name kept flashing on the screen. He didn't even glance at it.
