The morning air in Silvermoon carried the soft scent of wild jasmine and damp earth, drifting lazily through the open balcony doors of Veyra’s chamber. Steam curled from the bathing room, and a gentle humming sound floated with it low, melodic, almost haunting.
Veyra stood beneath the stream of warm water, eyes half-closed, fingertips gliding slowly along her arm as she traced invisible patterns on her skin. The tune she hummed had no words. It never did. It was something old. Something she had known long before this life, before these schemes, before obsession and rivalry and wolves and thrones.
