The storm around us amplified, mirroring the rising tension as our eyes locked in a deadly standoff. Boris lunged then, faster than a bolt of lightning splitting the gloom. I tried to sidestep, but he anticipated my maneuver. His coated claws raked across my flank with terrifying precision. Pain flared through me, white-hot and blinding, casting all my senses into disarray. The potent venom seeped into my system, spreading through my veins with icy tendrils that numbed my flesh and slowed my heartbeat. I staggered back, a whimper escaping my lips amidst the chaotic crackling of the storm. Boris advanced on me with purpose, a triumphant snarl curling his muzzle.

I focused my mind on turning him and as soon as I tasted a faint taste of blood in my mouth, something else accompanied it. The taste was bitter, sour and for some reason, it tasted just as bad as I assumed it could smell. Like something rotten, poisonous. It took me a couple of seconds to realize it was my venom. I didn’t let go of him until I was sure there was enough venom in his body. The moment I released him, the body collapsed and started convulsing.

But there were none to be had. As Caleb stood there, his grief slowly morphed to anger, to a slow, quiet rage. His boy had been killed. He had not died accidentally, but had been deliberately killed, in cold blood. It was the work of an evil vampire coven, one that had set out to destroy Caleb, and had found his boy instead. Caleb wanted revenge. He needed revenge. And he was not alone. His entire coven demanded vengeance, too, as did Aiden’s coven. This was an attack on all of them, and was completely unacceptable. The covens were united.

I can work with that. “Tell me, witch. What has he promised you? If it is financial gain, I can double it. If it is power, I assure you, you are on the wrong side. Do you think it wise to go against the Ventrel coven, a coven who has the power of not only vampires and wolves, but the strongest witches of all?” Her eyes widened at me before moving to Remus. She stepped back with a gaping mouth. “The Ventrel coven? A union with a Zoldeck. Are the rumors true?” Her words were a breathless whisper, said more to herself, but loud enough for my ears.

He wanted to reach his dreams no matter what life brought his way. “We are supernatural. I read about other creatures, dummies.” He joked. “Ha, ha, ha.” Elijah laughed. “Please, can we concentrate? I hate doing this.” Beckham affirmed. “Sure. I will take that,” Colby took the thick book with a black leather cover and a gold star drawn in front of it. “It doesn't have an author.” He recognized it when he grasped the book. “Are we into vampire or witch hunting?” Beckham grumbled.

I saw blood on her clothes, but she wasn’t hurt. “Get him out of here!” Zane growled at her. He fought to get his hands free from the Snake Man’s grasp. Petrov’s body seemed to grow larger by the minute. His neck stretched above the Lycan’s head. Darina struggled to lift me to my feet. I stopped her. “Darina, listen to me. Get your mother and the others to safety.” The venom spread, making my veins appear black as it burned through my body. Death seemed a real possibility, but I wasn’t giving up so easily.

I discovered that this place is home to several supernatural creatures besides werewolves, such as lycans, chimeras, vampires, witches, fairies, and many more that I can't recall. Alex also revealed that our grandfather is a descendant of Zeus, which makes him revered as a god, given that Zeus is a Greek god of lightning, sky, and thunder, like a weather god. Grandfather was blessed with the power of thunder because of the blood of Zeus coursing through his veins. He also told me about his werewolf, who is an alpha, but no one knows for sure. That's why he freaked out when I followed him, but that's a story for another day.

This book is dedicated to Bukade—my awesome friend who's helped me very very much in the creation of this book, and Favour Edem, too—my first love, for taking her time to explain stuffs about Werewolves, and Vamps, and Witches to me.
