Breaking The Spotlight
Nolan’s eyes scanned the screen, then flicked to Damien and Celeste.
“She moved again.”
“What now?” Damien asked, his voice already darkening.
Nolan turned the phone so the room could see.
It was a video of herself, Veronica Hale. No press makeup, no curated lighting, no designer setting. Just her, sitting in what looked like a private study, lit by natural daylight, her expression carefully composed but uncharacteristically raw.
“Play it,” Celeste said.
Nolan tapped the screen. The video rolled.
“I’ve remained silent,” Veronica’s voice began, measured and low, “because I believed this would resolve in private. But silence, it seems, is no longer a shield. So here’s the truth, from me.”
