As this happens I feel my eyes turn reptilian and I allow myself to shift, my own clothes tearing from my body as scales erupt all over my skin and my legs become a tail. He does as I ordered, and my feet settle on the cold marble. We are in the foyer. I wobble around a bit, before he puts his hands on my shoulders and steadies me. “All right, take out your coin. You will be the one to flip it. Heads we go on the ship, tails we don’t. Agreed ?”

Mary Sue sighs, after we’ve finished sharing our findings. “When all else fails,” I say, reaching into my purse and pulling out a quarter, “heads or tails?” “Head, always,” Mary Sue replies with a coy wink. I ignore her innuendo, and flip the coin into the air. “Tails,” I reply, once the coin has landed in the palm of my hand. “We’ll tail Bobby today, and John tomorrow, unless something else comes up. Sound like a plan?” “Sounds like a plan, girlfriend! To the Skank Mobile!”

Both women nod. "First toss!" They flip their coins simultaneously. The coins spin through the air, catching the arena lights, and for a moment everything seems to move in slow motion. The coins hit the ground. "Both tails!" the referee announces. "We continue!" "Second toss!"
