⸻ Curious. Malakai slowly backed away. ⸻ “Something is wrong.” ⸻ Victor frowned. ⸻ “What?” ⸻ Malakai’s golden eyes remained fixed on the creature. ⸻ “It’s not attacking.” ⸻ Silence. ⸻ Victor’s smile faded slightly. ⸻ Because he was right. ⸻ The monster wasn’t attacking. ⸻ It was watching. ⸻ Watching Amara. ⸻

"While that King sleeps in his high tower? While the man who framed you drinks champagne? They are calling you a child-killer, Aurelia. They are cheering for your death." I closed my eyes, seeing Kaelen’s cold face as he turned his back on me. I felt the slap from the Luna again. I felt the silver chain hitting my chest. The sadness started to drain away, replaced by a heat so intense it felt like my blood was turning into lava. "They think I'm a monster," I whispered. "So be the monster they fear," the wolf tempted. “Give me your soul. Let me into the cracks they broke in you. I will give you the strength to tear their world apart. I will give you the power to make them crawl."

She wore her secrets like armor, and every lie she told was a step closer to the truth she refused to share. I wanted to believe she was a monster. But the truth was, she was just like me. Ruthless. Calculated. Beautiful and venomous—like Medusa with a smile. “She got you good,” Viktor said, finally placing down his cutlery, his voice slicing into my thoughts. “You realize this changes everything now.” I gave him a hard stare, then shrugged. “It changes nothing for me. You’re the Boss. It’s your call what you want to do with her.”

Victor’s grin widened, “Ah, there it is. The awakening.” No. No, no, no. I refused. Whatever he had done, whatever he thought he was unlocking, I wouldn’t let him turn me into his monster. Summoning every ounce of strength I had left, I twisted my wrist, feeling the restraint dig into my skin. Blood trickled down my arm, but I didn’t care. If my body was changing, I would use it. With a growl, I lunged at Victor, pushing him down from his wheelchair to the ground, I was on top of his, my blurry eyes trying to refocus itself onto him. Victor looked shocked, his eyes were wide, his lips were wide open as he stared at me.

"Oh, Ivy. You destroy my house; I destroy your brother's property. It's all just a game, and everyone gets an equal chance to attack." Ivy's face crumpled, tears streaming down her face. "You're a monster," she sobbed. "How could you do this?" Victor shrugged, his smile growing wider. "You should have thought of that before you decided to play with fire. Now, it's my turn." Ivy's anger boiled over, and she launched herself at Victor, her fists flying. "You'll pay for this," she screamed. "You'll pay for everything." Victor laughed, catching her wrists and holding her back. "Oh, Ivy. You're so predictable. You think you can hurt me? I'm the one who always comes out on top."

The power he had stolen from the High Humans, the frequency he had mastered, began to cook him from the inside out. His fur glowed with a heat so intense the lunar dust beneath his paws turned to glass. He grew, his form expanding until he stood twenty feet tall, a mountain of white fire and jagged muscle. "You want my kids?" Victor’s roar didn't need air. It was a psychic blast that shook the Mother’s tentacles. "You have to go through me first." "You are a spark in the dark, little wolf," the Mother vibrated. "A fleeting thing." "I’m the storm that’s going to break your neck," Victor countered.

it was commendable! "I thought you are different from them... that you..." "That I'm not a bloodthirsty little monster, older sister?" Victor's tone was gentle and almost merciful if not for the words that sounded like a sneer when heard twice. "But what to do?" Victor sang back with a thoughtful hum, "I am a monster. I'm born a monster just like you. We came from the same mother after all, a mother who is also a monster." "Victor.... how could you call our mother a monste-"

anymore. I hated that doll Ophelia gave me. I cut it to pieces. But she didn't get mad. She just smiled and pulled out a remote. With a light press of a button, I started vomiting violently, my whole body shaking. Ophelia looked pleased with herself. "See what I can do now? I can make you throw up whenever I want. You killed our dad, and then you pretended to be some genius to steal Mom's love. This is exactly what you deserve."

Victor caught it like it was nothing. "I already had the original suit and got it tailored," she said, nodding in satisfaction. "She had two suits, Anne!" Victor shouted, absolutely vibrating. "And now I've got the Power Sword!" He ripped the helmet off so I could see his giant, ridiculous smile. "What the hell are you guys even doing?" I asked flatly. "Poses!" Victor answered like it was obvious. "Join us or be vanquished!" Yesenia struck a dramatic, stupid pose next to him. "He's better than me at this. I should take lessons."
