“One who was attacked and almost raped the day before!” Laura cried gently. “One who’s obviously suffering from the effects. You might have PTSD,” she added.
“That’s something soldiers get, not people like me,” Carine said.
“Anyone can get it after being traumatised,” Laura said. “It might be worth seeing someone.”
“What, like a therapist?” Carine asked.
“Can’t hurt,” Laura said as the bus arrived.
By the time they reached their stop half an hour later, Carine had played the scenes with Paul over in her mind more times than she could count, her misery increasing with each vivid replay.
