Story is the lifeblood of our people. Story teaches. Story cautions. But sometimes stories are just stories, and life takes another, unexpected path. The wily Fae may have honor, the fearsome dragon a tender heart, the dainty princess the bravery of a King, and an unfaithful lover might love most of all… Stories teach us, but they also mislead us. Not all heroes carry swords, and not all villains have evil intentions. Story is, after all, just words. And words do not have the weight of action.

I had never imagined Chad would be such a jerk. When Chad and his friend laughed at Annika, I was indignant. I rushed over to cover his mouth, not realizing how pale Annika looked. She fumbled, desperately wanting to run, and eventually tripped and fell into the swimming pool. Nathan saved her, and it became a classic tale of the prince saving the ordinary girl, just like in many romantic stories. People loved to read these kinds of stories. As the couple's story gained popularity on campus, it became evident that it needed a villain, a malicious character who would bully Cinderella and try to steal her prince away. I was perfect for that role.

I looked down at my cup to avoid his gaze. Hearing him rambling like this with a heart-broken voice, I can’t help but get mad at the author. Some writers are quite unfair. They decide on their character’s life, what they’re supposed to do, who they’re supposed to be, and how their life will end in the book. Some would never give justifications on the happenings as long as the main characters meet a happy ending. How about the people like Victoria and Ben? They are just side characters who are tossed around for the sake of backstories and plot spices. They are deemed insignificant in the book but being in this world... they all seem real, they are alive, they are humans like me and they have

And the villain’s luck also never goes up, so you know.” I shrug. “There’s probably no point to this.”

- He will literally be the worst person I've probably ever written (compared to the male leads of my previous stories) because I want to challenge myself as a writer to see how messed up of a character I can write [weird, I know lol]. - Bottom Line: think of this story as reading about the villain instead of the hero. - If all of you can live with the idea that he may never be able to redeem himself of the actions he will commit in the story, then I welcome you to join me in this chaotically insane narrative! ‘ I realize in the images the girl from the mirror was also from the game. Aurelia Giliam... That is her name. She was the villainess of the game. She hated the heroine so much. She did countless things just to mess up her chances. Even though she was always causing trouble for me in the game. I could only feel a sense of kinship with her. She was like me. Even though she had a family, they didn’t want anything to do with her. Her father hated her for taking the life of the only woman he loved and her older brother didn’t want anything to do with her. She was simply something everyone didn’t care for.

She must be very out of her mind to think all of that is legit. "You think you have power over humans? Every villain has a story to tell. It’s either insecurity, stupidity, or just plain evil that is pushing them to do all of this. Either way, as boring as it may sound, I need time to plan my escape, so I will take the opportunity to listen to whatever they have to say.
