Blake pushed the door open, and the smell hit first—beer, smoke, leather, sweat. The room inside was alive, buzzing with energy that bordered on chaos. Men in leather vests leaned against the bar, tattoos crawling up their arms. Laughter spilled loud and raw. Women draped themselves over laps, swaying to music that rattled the floor. Eyes turned when Blake stepped inside. Conversations faltered. A hush rippled through the room like a shift in the air. Then the voices picked up again, but I could feel the weight of their stares. My skin burned under them.

Her heart raced as she walked forward, each step echoing like a heartbeat in the stillness. And then she saw it. A gate. Massive. Arched. Timeless. Crafted from dark, shimmering stone and veined with glimmers of silver and glowing green crystal, the gate loomed at the foot of a colossal mountain. Vines snaked around its edges, adorned with strange flowers that pulsed with an ethereal light. Yet despite its breathtaking beauty, the gate stood resolutely shut. Seraphine reached out, pressing her palms against the stone. Nothing.

I awoke early in the morning and decided to go for a run. After my run I showered and changed into a pair of short denim shorts and a halter top. It was a hot day and I was going to be in the kitchen or out at the grill for quite awhile. I had my hair pulled up in a purposely messy bun and my feet were bare. I had steaks marinating, corn and potatoes already roasting and was putting a pan of brownies in the oven when I heard the screen door open and close. I assumed it was Bo and continued what I was doing. A startled squeak left my throat when I turned and saw Alpha Drake. He was standing against the door frame looking sexier than sin in faded jeans and a fitted t-shirt. Drake’s eyes were d

The path curved sharply, then— A tall metal gate rose in front of them, dark and cold, guarded by two cameras. Nathan stopped the car. “Stay quiet. I’ll try the codes.” Noah leaned closer as Nathan typed the first sequence. Nothing. Another code. Still nothing. “Nathan…” Noah whispered. “Wait.” Nathan typed a longer string of numbers. Silence. Then— Click. The gate slid open. Noah let out a shaky breath. “You’re brilliant.” Nathan gave a humorless smile. “No. Victoria is just predictable.” They drove in. The gate closed behind them with a heavy thud.

In the center, the Gate throbbed like a living heart, silver and black energy twisting and curling, feeding off the sanctum itself. Vincent stood before it, robes billowing, eyes glowing with the raw power of the Gate. He didn’t move to strike immediately—he didn’t need to. The very presence of the intruders threatened to unbalance the delicate equilibrium of his creation. “You’ve come far,” he said, voice echoing, metallic and cold. “But this is where your journey ends. The Gate will consume you, and your deaths will be the final symphony of my reign.” Lily stepped forward, daggers drawn, voice steady. “We end it here, Vincent. No more shadows. No more bloodlines corrupted. No more fear. Th

I shook my head and looked at Sin; he was looking down at me confused. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to” “It’s fine, little flame, but these gates are dangerous, and I don’t know what would happen if you went into one.” He explained, releasing my hand. I looked at the gate again as he did. “What does this gate go to?” “It’s where souls are punished for envy.” He answered as we walked away from the gate even though I could hear whispering from the other side calling me, trying to pull me to the gate.
