“My turn,” Vivian said, stepping in front of me.
“Well—” I muttered, turning away.
“I know you’ve always been calmer than Teresa,” Vivian continued softly. “And we didn’t get to spend much time together before you went abroad. But just know that I love you, Adrian. Those late-night chats we used to have—they carried me through some of my darkest times. I’ll always treasure them.”
She wrapped her arms around him.
Hmph. Darkest times, she means, I thought, letting out a quiet scoff.
