Tangled in His Web
The battery had been full just minutes ago.
A faint hiss broke the silence — static, faint, like an untuned radio. It was coming from somewhere above, through the speaker of the elevator intercom.
“Hello?” she whispered again, her voice trembling. “Is someone there?”
No answer. Just that low, eerie hum.
Then — a whisper.
So soft, she almost thought it was in her head.
“Lily…”
She froze. The voice wasn’t Alex’s.
It was low, distorted — masculine, but warped through static like it came from miles away.
