Three hours later, I stood in front of a mirror, and I didn't recognize the girl staring back. I was wearing an obsidian gown that felt like a second skin. It was high-collared but had no back, showing the smooth, strong line of my spine. My hair was pulled up, and for the first time in my life, I wasn't wearing a maid’s cap. I was wearing a crown of black diamonds. "You look like a queen," Zade said, standing behind me. He was dressed in formal military leathers that made him look lethal and impossibly handsome.

“The Awakening Ritual will now commence. One at a time, present your heirloom and step into the pool.” A nervous energy swept over the room. The first student stepped forward, a witch girl with silver bangles. The moment she entered the water, a green glow wrapped around her. Wind element. Next was a tall boy from the human faction. Blue light. Water element. Then a witch boy, silver glow. Spirit. Each one succeeded. Just when I thought I’d have time to gather myself, Mark shoved past me. “She should go first,” he said loudly. “Let’s see if the half-breed can even light a spark.”

His eyes were glassy as he shook our hands. “She would be proud,” he said quietly. “So proud.” I squeezed his hand back, feeling my throat tighten. “Thank you,” I whispered. He stepped back, giving us space. When I finally took my seat at the very front—next to Honey, who looked stunning in a soft blue dress—my legs trembled just a little. This was really happening. Cade stood on the raised stage, the flags of Fenra behind him. His uniform was formal but not traditional. He refused the gold regalia and instead wore black and silver.

The screen gave him nothing but silhouettes. Wade’s grin faltered. He didn’t like being ignored. He leaned closer, crouching until he could smell the metallic tang of Reed’s sweat. “She’ll walk right into my hands, and you’ll sit here and watch. You’ll watch me bleed her life dry in front of you. And when I’m done with her, I’ll come back for you. Acid, Doc. Chemicals. I’ll melt you down to nothing but bone and screams.” Still no reply. Only that single, bloodied eye staring at the screen. That, more than any resistance, made Wade’s fingers twitch with anger.

I have a blue cape that reaches my knees, and long armored white boots that cover above my knees. Val wears almost the same design as mine, but her armored color combines red, black and yellow. Her cape is red, and her armor was black and yellow. “This is our battle attire, Azrael. Stop gawking at Alice's cleavage. Tsk.” Val said while smirking, and Azrael’s face turned beet red that made us laugh. Azrael is wearing a black armor attire which has a hidden weapon he could use in case of emergency. He requested that on the bladesmith and crafter.

FIRA'S POV Eira said that she was going out today. She did not say where she was going so I concluded that she would enjoy the day although we still had no news about our father. I just wore a white crop top shirt, blue pants and white shoes. These were Zephyrus' gift since he was always in the city. He told me that if I wanted to go there, I should dress up according to their clothes. Our dress in Elemental Kingdom was a red uniform, a skirt and the garment of the omega. Zephyrus said it was fine to wear, but it would look like a uniform somewhere so I strictly need to use what he gave.
