Locked. "Let me out!" she screamed, hammering her fists against the heavy oak. "You can't do this! Help!" "No one is coming to help you, Emmanuella." She spun around so fast she stumbled. Romeo was standing by a massive window on the far side of the room. She hadn't heard a sound, no door opening, no footsteps. He had discarded his suit jacket, his white shirt crisp and blindingly bright, and sleeves rolled up to reveal forearms that looked like they were carved from marble. He looked terrifyingly calm.

I went towards the door and found Maki. "Surprise! It's your first day of school.", She looked at me, blushing like crazy, and she covered her face." "What's the big idea? Why are you covering your face?" I asked her. "Just look at yourself, moron," she said. I took a look at myself, and...holy crap, I haven't changed into my uniform yet, and I am still in my boxers. I looked up at Maki, who was blushing. Oh no, did she get the wrong idea? My face turned red.

“You’d want to go?” She turns to face me, her eyes meeting mine. There’s something unspoken there, something I can’t quite place. “Of course,” she says, her voice soft but firm. “I’ve always wanted to see Verona,” she adds, but before she can say more, Alejandro interjects excitedly, grabbing her hand from across the table. “The city of Julieta!” “Julieta?” Her brows knit together in confusion. “Romeo and Juliet,” I clarify, a small smile tugging at my lips.

Cara suggested. "My words exactly." Jastrow added. He sat up in his seat. "See, we all know Romeo is wealthy so it makes us think that he got everything he wanted as a kid but that's not true. He was born into a wealthy family who acted like royalty and was treated no less than a prince.

“So you don’t have a choice in this matter.” He shot me a glare that could’ve frozen the Atlantic. “I swear, sometimes you sound like a prison warden.” I raised an eyebrow. “Maybe I am. Because someone has to make sure you graduate.” He muttered under his breath but tried again, this time getting closer. “Romeo y Julieta es trágico.” I smiled, a small, satisfied smile. “Better. Much better.” He leaned back in his chair, exasperated, and crossed his arms. “This is ridiculous.”

My mouth waters when she opens a bowl, I inhale the strong aroma. “Drama club?” she says. Mischief colours her voice but Ben misses it. He nods. “Tell me about it.” There is a shift in the atmosphere at her question. Ben relaxes in his seat as he dives into full details about the school play. Sweat breaks out on my temples, I bunch the hem of my gown and bite my lip. He is talking about us with so much fondness but Daddy is looking at him with anything but that. “So yeah. I’m her Romeo,” he says this part with a smile, “and she’s my Juliet. She’s very good at it.”

More than once or twice, his hand already slipped under my skirt in the car, telling me that he approved of the look. "Romeo and Juliet, seriously?" He leans back in his seat, dropping his hands casually between his knees. "You strike a hard bargain, nemesis." Dressed in a simple white shirt and dress pants, he looks strikingly handsome as he watches the drama start to unfold on stage. His expression is disinterested and he gives a disgusted look when Romeo enters the stage. "How can you hate them?" I shrug, looking at the stage where the man playing Romeo says his dialogue. "They are the most beautiful star-crossed lovers to ever exist."

Ruggerio continues, the crowd listening mesmerized. “He is so cute,” Ginevra whispers, her gaze still glued on him. “She is not talking to me as I’m not worthy to hear the melodic sound of her voice.” Ruggerio gets everyone in his ban, as he recites his version of the famous act of Romeo and Juliet.

"Cast list went up an hour ago. You got Juliet." Something in my chest lifted anyway. Stupid, considering everything else sitting on top of me right then, but it lifted all the same. I'd auditioned back before things fell apart with Gray. Before any of this. Some small, dumb part of me had hoped we'd both land the leads and get to stand on a stage together again, the way we used to as kids doing elementary school plays with paper crowns and bedsheet togas. "Who got Romeo?" I asked, already bracing for a name I barely knew. Some junior. Somebody from drama club I'd exchanged maybe six words with in three years.

I shouldn't have asked that kind of question out of the blue. “Erm- I'm sorry, I'm not usually like this..” I trailed off feeling uncomfortable under his gaze. I guess I was just too tired. “No I love that question” he suddenly said making my eyes widen. “You do?” I asked, surprised that he was not yet creeped out but my weirdness. “Yes. My name is Romeo and you?” He asked. "J-juliet" I stuttered. Shit shit shit! He was obviously not going to buy that.
