Chapter Thirty-One: The Rule I Write (Eliza) Time believes in accumulation. It believes in erosion. It believes in the slow, patient wearing-down of all things that dare to stand still. I have felt it working. Not violently. Not dramatically. Just… persistently. Objects misplaced. Sleep interrupted. Heat sharpened into distraction. My voice taxed for every syllable. Love turned into voltage meant to jolt me into motion. Time thinks in currents. It assumes everything eventually flows.

Unknown POV I lost track of time while I burned cigarette stick after stick. The once dark sky is now preparing for a new day. I walk slowly away from the window feeling cranky from lack of sleep and stiff from staying in position for too long. It's a new day and I'm really excited about what I planned on doing today, I really hope it goes well. The loud ringing of my phone had me stopped surprised. "isn't it kinda early" "what do you want?" I asked into the phone clearly not in the mood to handle the person on the other end.

I swear it hurts like it was yesterday but with this hurt, I live. Wishing that the world would stay quiet for a while, so I can drown my thoughts and once more smile to prove that I can be okay because is what everyone expects me to do. Am I right? I looked at my phone and it was only 5 am " what a way to start a day" there goes my sleep. I need something to occupy my mind, having these modules part-time is not helping, we barely have two classes a week, that is if we are lucky.

"It's waiting." Then, it happened. 4:01. The number changed. And then, it changed back. 4:00. Elion blinked. He rubbed his eyes. "Did you see that?" Elion asked, his voice trembling. "Yes," Cale said. "It went back. It went from 4:01 to 4:00." "A micro-loop," Cale explained, as if discussing the weather. "A stutter. The universe missed a beat." "Time doesn't miss a beat!" Elion shouted. "Time is linear! It goes forward!"

She felt time stop and she didn't know the word to utter. " How do you mistakingly sleep with someone Adam?'' She finally asked trying to hold back the sobs " We were drinking and it was all a blur, there were girls at the party and...i didn't mean to" Adam said and reached out to take Riley's hand across the table. she immediately withdrew from him and looked around then covered her mouth with her palms and sniffed almost loudly.

"We've been by each other's side for 15 years, in love for eight years. Is everything so worthless to you that you can forget about it so easily?"

Sonia was shocked when the man began to wrap his sturdy arms around her slim waist, her head rested on the chest of the man who was considered her sister-in-law, her ears could hear her heartbeat, she wanted to get out of this situation, her husband was in the hospital now, but she was making out with her sister-in-law, at least that's what she thought, she did not know that they were exchanging identities.

I cried more, I didn't know why I was feeling guilty. She was always busy with office work and we hardly got time for each other but it never bothered me as I was also busy somewhere partying with friends. It continued like that I never bothered to think about my mother. When she actually wanted to spend time with me, I was seen busy in my hangouts. Now I was realising how stupid I was for ignoring her and never looked out for her. I didn't give time to my mom who brought me on this earth.
