The two rogues crash to the ground under the weight of two while the third turns and looks at me with a deep growl and blood on his snout. “Well, shit.” I mutter, reaching out, picking up the gray flag at my feet before jumping up and running into the woods. The wolf yips after me but doesn’t follow, which doesn’t surprise me. The alpha has more important things to worry about, like the rogues he just found.

Chapter 27 – Grace Holding my hand out, I watch as a Rager walks past our hiding spot, his greasy blonde hair slicked back and his dirty clothes indicating he has just returned. This wolf must have been on the night watch. The redhead and I look at each other and she points to the right side – the side this Rager came from – and mouths exit to me. I grin, turning just in time to watch the Rage disappear into a door way giving us a clear path to the exit.

“And if it happens to be the king and his warriors?” I swallowed hard, an invisible lump already forming in my throat. “Then, I won’t waste time slaughtering whoever dared touch him.” In no time, the riders continued drawing closer, the scent of blood filling the air. I could hear the sound of the hooves, the growl coming from the wolves. Then, suddenly, one of the riders raised a flag. It was the Silverfang crest. Relief hit me the moment I saw the flag. “It's them,” I said, running off to meet them halfway.

As I sensed some movements in the dimly lit alley, a subtle rustling that sent a chill down my spine. Instinctively, I tightened my grip on her hand, preparing myself for the unknown. Four figures materialized from the darkness, their menacing presence unmistakable, they were Lycans. Among them, one stood out, adorned in a reddish-white royal robe that billowed around its powerful frame. Its eyes burned with an intense crimson glow, captivating and unnerving simultaneously. This was no ordinary encounter; I was being ambushed by the infamous Red Fang Pack.

“Okay, that’s enough posturing and manly displays of dominance! Your plan failed; your attack is over! Now leave or die here.” All heads turn to the trees, as we see The Red Rose, walk out of the forest and onto the green. Her red cloak casts a striking image, floating in the breeze as she walks, and the top of her face covered by her hood as always. She has nine kids following her, and one in her arms, holding on as though afraid she will disappear. Also, a bloody blade, is held steadily in her right hand, dripping fresh blood as she walks. ** "Impossible!"

Loid stood at attention to my right, his arms folded, eyes sharp, waiting—ever the watchful shadow. The large oak table between us bore the weight of our responsibilities. On its polished surface were maps, reports, and a folder stamped with a red “X.” That red mark had become all too familiar lately. It meant danger. Uncertainty. Rogues. I let out a breath and stared down at the latest file. A new rogue group had surfaced on the outskirts of the western borders. They weren’t just passing through like most. They were organized. Strategic. And from the signs left behind, they had blood on their hands. Pack blood.
