At the end of the hall, a door sat slightly ajar. I pushed it open… and froze. The room was filled with portraits of me. Me dancing on stage. Me reading quietly in the library. Me sitting alone on a park bench, lost in thought. Every angle of me, every moment… Jordan had captured in painstaking detail. I stepped closer to one painting. That was seventeen-year-old me in mid-dance, skirt flying, laughter radiant. In the corner, there was a line of tiny words that read: My rose has finally come to me.

Suddenly, I let out a hysterical laugh until my cousin walked into the office, perhaps brought on by the smell or even my outbursts. “What the hell are you doing, Rick?” “Killing them!” I replied, keeping my fanatical grin on my face. “Killing roses…” he repeated as he approached. “You okay, bro?”

The two vampires walked out to the hall and were met by an otherworldly scene. The once red interior was replaced with light gray linens that looked silver in the gentle glow of the candles scattered on every surface. The halls were lined with standing floral arrangements of white lilies and blue roses. White curtains hung at both ends of the hall and blocked any onlookers from peaking in. In the center of the hall, a table had been set up with bottles of blood, blood wine, and glasses.

“Get some rest tonight.” When he left, Evelyn sat back on the bed. This time, no tears fell. Only a blazing determination took their place. --- Out in the hallway, Rosemary was hiding behind a corner, eavesdropping. Her eyes narrowed with fury. “So, she’s starting to influence him…” she whispered darkly. She stormed off toward the basement kitchen. There, a burly man waited in the shadows, dressed in rugged clothes and a cap that hid most of his face. “We move up the plan,” Rosemary hissed.

Her robe brushed against the petals of the bushes as she approached the clearing, where a table was set for two. Candles flickered in the gentle breeze, and the scent of roses mixed with the aroma of fresh, warm food. Her heart thumped softly, a mix of fatigue and curiosity. Beside her mother’s grave, ‘Joe Walton’ engraved on the grave and pic of joe Walton was there.
