I would be the tyrant the prophecies feared. I let go of the Grand Alpha’s snout and kicked him back. He tumbled across the dirt, shifting back into his human form. He looked old. He looked small. "The war is over," I said, my voice ringing out across the valley. "The Council is dead. The old laws are gone." The remaining Council warriors dropped to their knees. My Blue-Eyed army stood behind me, their spirits tall and proud. I walked over to Rowan and helped him up. He leaned on me, his breath hitching. "You did it," he whispered. "You showed mercy."

Javier added, quieter now. “No,” I said, looking out over the battlefield, at the survivors, the wounded, the cost of everything we had just fought through. “We did it.” Because it hadn’t been just me.. It never was and as the reality of what had happened settled in, heavy and undeniable, one truth stood above everything else.. The war was over. And we were still standing.
