Chapter 31 – Grace Warmth, that's what surrounded me. The feel of a solid body against mine as I lay on a comfortable surface that smells like sunlight on a summer day. I smile, snuggling closer to the warm body, happy to not feel any pain or exhaustion. "Is she up yet?” Some one whispers, their lyrical voice reaching my ears.

I let out my feelings to him. “You are my wife…I will always help you , even if you are the strongest woman in this world – and you are…” he places the empty bowl aside and wraps his arm around me. “…the strongest woman I have ever met…” After supper and our little talk , we all gathered around the fire place warming our toes and fingers from the bitter cold. We would have thought that we would be warm in this cave , but it seemed to get colder inside than outside. I lay my head on Xavier chest , while he slowly ran his fingers through my hair – this moment felt so peaceful and so right , yet the events that had to occur to get to this perfect moment left a guilty feeling in my chest.

"Honestly, I'm just glad you're awake. You had me worried, Sarah." I looked at her, really looked at her, and smiled faintly. "Thanks, Lily. For taking care of me." She grinned. "Of course. You'd do the same for me." And as she stood to get me some water, I glanced back at the scars on my arm, already fading. But I could still feel it, the faint hum beneath my skin. The warmth of the flame that refused to die. The eternal flame.

I needed to see her, to reassure myself that she was safe, to feel her warmth against me. Finally, the townhouse came into view. Back at the wing, I noticed it properly for the first time and that was when I realized that the warmth from earlier wasn’t just normal and it also hadn’t gone away at all, it only got more specific and I hadn’t noticed it all day because I was really occupied. Elowen’s POV The morning came softly, painting the world in hues of rose and pearl. Warmth was the first thing that registered, a deep, pervasive heat that had nothing to do with the fire — long dead now, its embers merely a faint, comforting glow in the hearth. This warmth stemmed from them, from the three powerful beings who had woven themselves inextricably into the very fabric of my existence.
