he laughed. Just before the bridge, Damien held up,his arm to stop. Damien was a 'Dead I' and could see with great detail at distances over a mile away. Pointing at Makai and then to the ground, indicating him to stay there. Makai nodded. Damien slipped away into the dense foliage, looking more like a dark whisp, rather than a wolf. After he couldn't see him anymore, Makai crouched low, trying to attack if needed. Damien flew out of the trees at the back of whoever was standing in front of Ni-Ko, tackled him to the ground. Once he saw the attacker, Ni-Ko dropped to his knees, doubling over with laughter. Makai ran over quickly, and had the same reaction!

Everyone was watching me like a hawk. “You are the first female warrior in GrayCrest history. If my brothers deemed you worthy of that title, then I believe their judgment. But I want to see what made them so sure, since I am in charge of the GrayCrest army. And I can’t do that if you are crouching at the very back,” he replied, his voice hard.

"So, the post can wait for me to heal, and so can you." I stared at him. He'd handled part of the rogue problem? How? There hadn’t been the scent of a rogue on him. Had… he been using weapons? He was definitely a warrior of some sort. Only those with warrior ranks had weapons like swords. You couldn’t even own anything longer than a hunting knife unless you were at least a warrior-in-training. We had none. Crowe was quiet for a long moment. "You have three days. Then you report to the patrol captain."

But him talking about it as if it were some big joke made her feel used and cheap. “S’matter? Truth sting a bit, love?” She stared at him. Who was this cruel man? Something had set him off tonight. Before she could formulate a snappy response, Cash Big Crow sauntered up and tapped Jared on the shoulder. Cash was another heart-stoppingly handsome cowboy on the rodeo circuit. Native American, short and stocky, with long dark hair he wore in a braid, he had a grin as wide as the brim of his black Stetson. Cash was a little older than the youngsters on the circuit, and bit bowlegged from years spent riding bulls, broncs and “anything that bucked”.

“Nikolaidis. But his egg donor, as he put it, is a Frost. I’ve met some of them. Darius, Elijah, Forrest… and their wife Riko. Though I doubt you’d know them. They’re kind of private.” His eyebrows shot up. “Are you kidding? I went to Ravenwood with them.” My jaw nearly dropped. “Wait—seriously?” “Yup. Played basketball with Forrest. I was close with Darius and Elijah, too, at least back then. Riko came in during senior year. We didn’t hang out as much, but she was sharp. Quiet at first, but definitely the glue that held those three together. They called the brothers the Princes of Ravenwood.”

He stood as we entered. “Damien,” Jake said. “We want to offer warriors to help with the battle.” “And I will stay to assist,” Dad said. “I can also help with my brother. I’m sure he hasn’t made things easy on you.” I knew he hadn’t, but Damien was more diplomatic. “That’s kind, thank you.” To Jake, he said, “I would never turn away help. If Crow is a reflection of their typical warrior, then we have a hard fought battle ahead of us.”

" Okay, but what about my payment?" I nodded. Finding no other way to kill my time here. He guides me to the bar and steadies the revolving bar chair for me to sit. I felt strange again. No man has treated me with so much respect before. He seemed like a nice guy. We started chit-chatting, but my eyes were fixed on my brother's back. Ryder was telling me that he was the head warrior in the second-biggest pack in the world. He attended mid-semester to finish his studies.

Buttercup jerked her gaze toward the windows as the night over Feather Lakes exploded in a cacophony of sounds. There he was in his full glory, standing tall at 6'5", bulky and muscular. His dark brown hair, cut short and a week-old stubble making him look stunning. Wearing military pants with a plain white Tshirt, he was standing with his hands held back. After we settled in our position, with me standing behind Michelle in second row, second place, he spoke again. "Good morning everyone, my name is Viktor Kent, head Warrior of your pack. I will be your trainer" He was looking at every one of us while instructing us.
