I’m delighted to see two of them are women. “Good to see you again,” Owen greets, and I realize this Sun Warrior must have been part of the ambush. I look him over more carefully where he stands in front of the others. His hair is nearly the same brown as Owen’s but grown out to almost his shoulders. His eyes are a deep, forest green, and his skin is tanned, having clearly spent a lot of time in the sun. His high cheekbones bring even more focus to his eyes that would absolutely steal the show if not for his gorgeous, wide mouth.

The sound of the door gave me a little more distance from sleep but I didn't open my eyes. “My liege,” the person praised, and that was when I knew it was one of his warriors. The warrior continued, “we found him, some of our scouts saw him searching the cliff. He—” Orion’s body stiffened and it was almost as if he had somehow told the warrior to be quiet. His once steady heartbeat began to beat loudly into my ear and fast. He was obviously scared of whoever his warrior was about to announce. His hands caressed my hair a few more times before he then motioned to move. He placed me down back gently on the bed and I also pretended to be sound asleep.

He turned towards us, “Of course, every year we celebrate those who have worked hard to gather unbelievable scores. This year they are five. Firstly, the Raven wood pack’s very own Alpha Roman, Chief Fenrir from the Central Academy, Warwick Kingdom’s beta warrior Jasper, the Ore Merchant, Damon and finally, Warwick’s Kingdom very own beloved, Princess Ariana.” With each mention of our names, we were obligated to step forward and wave or bow. The Old Oak’s Shadow The mist clung to the ground as Aria, Caden, and a small contingent of Darkfang warriors moved toward the old oak, a gnarled sentinel standing alone in a clearing sacred to the packs. Rollan was nestled in a sling against Aria’s chest, his tiny body warm but quiet, as if sensing the danger. The mark on his arm pulsed faintly, a beacon in the pre-dawn gloom. Caden walked ahead, his blade drawn, his broad frame a shield against the unseen threats lurking in the fog. Kael flanked them, his wounds slowing his steps but not his resolve, his eyes scanning the trees for any sign of Victor’s rogues.

I noted. ​"He did," Marcus confirmed. "He plays the ruthless mercenary, but he takes care of the men who bleed for him. “Oakwood soldiers.” My stomach dropped. The warrior continued carefully. “They questioned travelers and smaller border settlements. They’re searching for a stray wolf named Leah Decker.” Silence. Cold silence. Marten’s expression darkened slowly. Dangerously. I felt the shift in the air around him immediately. Varkai stirred beneath his skin. The warrior continued nervously. “One of them described her appearance in detail.” Marten stepped forward slowly. “And who seeks her?” The warrior hesitated. “Tim Houston. The King of Oakwood.”

That exact moment paved the path to this ground for me. "The last competition is for the gold medal and the title Warrior King Or Queen." The Gamma leader stood up from his seat beside Alpha King Aramis, "And the two warriors who have been qualified for this final competition are the beta Tanner Knight of the Silver Hunters Pack and Phoenix Hart, a Gamma of The Dark Autumn Pack. I straightened my back, hearing my name while Tanner joined the stadium from the opposite side. The applause encouraged Tanner. He opens the door and Adrianna lunges at him while giggling and talking a million miles an hour about her souvenirs that her Aunt Lisa had gotten her. We head inside where Shane pulls me into him and walk straight over to where Austin and Candice are standing with an older couple. The man has a cut on, like the rest of the Warriors, but this one looks different. It's worn, a few holes in it, and on the bottom of the Nightmare Warriors lettering, it says Chesapeake Chapter.
