Don't Give Up On Me
"Ms. Madden, please believe me. If I'm lying, then let me die a miserable death and forever rot in hell."
It was the cruelest oath I could make. When the words "forever rot in hell" left my lips, Mom visibly froze.
In my past life, that had been her curse upon me. She scattered my ashes across garbage dumps and hired somebody to perform rituals to ensure that I would forever rot in hell.
Ms. Madden gave me a firm nod, assuring me that she trusted me.
My eyes suddenly prickled with tears. Ms. Madden and I hadn't seen each other in years. Even when Mom met up with her old colleagues, she only ever brought Charlene along.
