Lya The book I had found on my bed was interesting, to say the least. It had been wrapped in an old cloth, and the warmth under my skin when I skimmed my hand over the cover confirmed it was embossed with silver. Given it seemed to be a book about werewolves, and we had a sensitivity to silver, that was a peculiar choice. I wondered if it was filled with information they didn’t want just anyone reading. I hadn’t gotten much into the book - just the introduction of the Wulver Pack, its location, and when it came into existence - when there was a knock on the door. I went over to open it, not at all surprised that Oliver was on the other side.

I burst through the tree line into chaos. Six massive creatures prowled through Steele territory. They were not wolves. Not anymore. Cursed beasts twice the size of any natural wolf, with eyes that glowed different colours. Red. Green. Gold. Purple. Each one represented a different bloodline. A different ancient horror bound to flesh and rage. And they were slaughtering my wolves. Bodies littered the ground. Wolves I trained with. Ate with. Lived beside. Now reduced to torn flesh and spilt blood.

I jumped and crossed the last hill, now I was standing on the flat ground, my warriors following me closely but all of us stopped in shocked. We identified our teen pups, who were lying on the ground, but I can see their healing process has started and small wounds are not oozing the blood anymore. Unfortunately, the trauma of seeing him chew and swallow the chunk of flesh he’d savagely ripped from Godwin’s calf caused me to lose my concentration on the spell and our cloak of invisibility disappeared.
