You need to have a partner with you to attend this ball. These masks are exclusively made for the guests and anyone without it won’t be allowed to enter. Your presence is very much anticipated.”

Dancers were gliding onto the floor, champagne flutes clinked, and the host stepped forward. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Blackwell Winter Masquerade. Let the night begin." Amelia reentered moments later, this time beside Luke. Her mask was back on. Her face unreadable. But inside, her pulse was racing. Across the room, Clara entered with a mask as red as blood and a dress designed to catch attention. She looked around, already searching.
