“Are they really going to just let me fall back?” That's actually... cause me a sigh of relief. I'm tired by the eyes that following my every steps! Then there's Grandma I notice anxious and been in contact with the messengers lady. And everyone of them is given grandma a jade, however it only cause Grandma to deeply anxious. Then her expression greatly change, she said in certainty, “It must be those horrible species! The Lycan kidnapped the future of the huntress!” “Future... of the huntress?” I curiously eyed everyone that suddenly voice out their wanting to wipe out the species they despise.

Prologue Kitty was nervous. She was sitting on one of the long cushioned benches in front of HR. The random sound of keyboards clacking inharmoniously and mouse clicking added to it. Today was her interview at West Enterprises, a relatively new company headed by Alexander West, the owner of a vast five-star hotel and land corporation chain across the country. Kitty didn't know much about him: other than his money, and recently his good looks.

“Welcome to the Legacy table.” I just sit there, waiting. Seeing no reaction from me, he coughs awkwardly. “Maybe you’ll feel better once you are introduced to everyone,” he nods at his own logic. I give him a half-grin of encouragement. “Let me introduce you around,” he tries again. “Victoria, Simon, Lazarus, Zephyra, and Madison. And of course me,” he stops with himself, placing his hand on his chest solemnly. “Ace.” “You don’t seriously want me to call you that, do you,” I laugh. “Like the ace of spades or a flying ace?” I snort. “Who do you think you are? Tom Cruise.”

I want the full impact of my shopping spree to hit him all at once, without warning. I make my way to a cozy little restaurant before continuing my shopping excursion, my growling stomach urging me to satisfy its hunger pangs. I didn’t have breakfast before I left. The aroma of freshly cooked meals wafts through the air, making my mouth water. I settle into a seat by the window, the warm sunlight streaming in and casting a golden glow over the table. After placing my order, I pull out my phone, seeking a momentary escape. I click on a compilation of cat videos. Soft giggles escape my lips as I watch a particularly playful kitten tumble head over heels, lost in the simple joy of the Moment.

A silly little game, that is all it was supposed to be but it turned to so much more. It was four years ago and I was fourteen. It was my brother's going away party. At sixteen male werewolves go to academy to serve in the military and prepare for their adult roles in the pack. My brother Bo and his best friend Drake were leaving the next day. The adults had already called it a night and the teenagers had somehow ended up in the basement playing truth or dare, typical dumb kid stuff. When it came to Drake's turn, he was challenged to draw a name from a cup and go play seven minutes in heaven with them. He drew my name. I had always had a crush on Drake and this was my chance. I know he couldn’t see me, but his words still made me feel better. I wonder if other Hunters get this attached to their artificial intelligence’s? I don’t know what I would do without Jarvis, if we are being honest. “Thanks, Jarvis.” I said with a smile. “Anytime, Ma’am.” He replied. I walked out of the bathroom feeling a lot better and wandered over to the food. I wasn’t too hungry after my battle, but I knew I had to eat something. I settled for a yogurt parfait with granola and some water. Not much but it would have to do.

As we were seated in the kitchenette, the speaker goes off again. “Welcome to the Games, Kai Blackwood and Aliaria Laurent. I see you have already familiarized yourselves with the place. There is a copy of your schedule in the nightstand. For now, you have dinner in thirty minutes. It is the first official event of the Games. Welcome once again.”

Wow, what an arrogant prick. I’m not stupid. I see the way he looks at me. I see the desire in his eyes and the hunger. I may not know what he’s trying to get out of the games that he’s playing with me, but I’m never going to give him the satisfaction that he’s going to win. Not this time. If he’s used to having his way with everything and anything, he needs to understand I’m not the type of girl he can easily subdue. He needs to try harder.
