the wolf rumbled. "Wait, for real?" "Yes, quickly!" Elea climbed onto the massive wolf's back, burying her hands in his thick fur. "Hug me tight. I'm going to run, and I'm not responsible if you fall off," he warned. As they took off, Drex became a blur of power, slicing through the wind and leaping over obstacles with ease. He wasn't just a wolf; he was a Lycan, a magnificent creature of legend. Elea squeezed her eyes shut, clinging to him as they soared through the night.

However, it wasn’t pure gold; it shimmered with intertwining silver threads, like liquid moonlight coursing through the golden glow. Suddenly, my pup trembled violently, and an ancient, soul-stirring, and terrifying roar echoed. With the awakening complete, a golden paw emerged, sharp claws glinting. Then, a tiny werewolf head peeked out. “Mother!” The voice was small but clear, and two round, bright eyes stared directly at me. I flinched at the sudden call, and Kaeren appeared beside me as well. The little pup stretched, its golden fur patterned with sacred silver markings—the legendary emblem of the Primordial Lycan!

Asshole. “I didn’t think it was relevant,” he said, stepping closer. He lifted his hand and brushed the back of it across my forehead, like he was checking my temperature. And even now… I felt a spark, like electricity under his touch. I closed my eyes without thinking as my breath hitched, shamefully so. “You still react like that when I touch you?” he murmured, leaning in until I could taste his breath. Xenia Bakken, daughter of Fredrick and Delilah Bakken, a friend of Carlotta Roux, lover of Cristobal Silva, and a half-decent baker." "Watch your tongue," Xenia snapped, glaring at her. "I'm an awesome baker. Besides, who are you to judge?"

I smiled gently. “You have a warrior’s body.” I ran my fingers down a particularly ropey scar down her side. “What was this one from?” “Bobby Brown,” she said. “A werewolf that liked to hunt human children. He had a thing for their hearts. He’d barbecue them.” She shuddered with the memory. “He had killed my client’s nephew. Took me a week but I got him.
