She shook her head, and a bittered smile came into her face, “I am sorry, for a thousand years that is the way of the mating ritual for the werewolf pack.” “Oh, if I get captured, I can assure you that I will put a hell of a fight to them.” I said to her with a confident. She let out a sigh. “Dear, they have spells. Sorcerers or witches could help them, never think that any pack doesn’t get any help from another mystic blood.”

Lena joined Casper in sighing after each page turn. "What about this?" Kayla asked turning a heavy, black leather-bound book to face us. "It's a spell to give a human a wolf. It says the resulting creature will be more wolf than human and difficult to control. It's completed using the blood of a Lycan." We all crowded around, peering down at the page. A black, muscular humanoid was depicted on one side, the ingredients and steps for the spell listed on the other side. A dire warning inked in blood-red ink covered the bottom of the page.

I raised my hands to the sky and closed my eyes. "Atharraich!" I shouted, as I wielded an electric blue haze around me. The energy spiraled around me, then exploded in a forcefield type barrier as soon as the wolves ran into it. Every wolf that hit the force field dropped to their knees and began tumbling down the hill yelping in pain and agony. This was one of my strongest spells, taught to me by my grandmother to protect ourselves. Unfortunately, it was a highly painful spell, causing the wolves to retreat and the human form to replace them. The Celtic witches had developed this spell to protect themselves from the ancient Lycans during the creature wars.

We all sweared Dwarfs were just some made up species in a children’s book, but turns out they are real. The next week I was with Elder Darnell learning 6 Dark spells: Cloying Darkness, Darkvision, Flood of Darkness, Night Vision, Troubled Sleep, Weak Dark Bolt. I swear to the Moon Goddess the Bolt spells are my favorite ones to learn. For these 6 spells I did great and picked them up quickly.

They quickly reformed, taking on the shape of human and wolf alike. Two glowing eyes, the color of polished rubies, shone from within each one.

I flipped through her spellbook in hopes of finding a spell similar to the one used to attack Xavier. I doubted she had that kind of spell present, but I had to try. I browsed through the whole book and found nothing. There were glamor spells and spells that could be used to the detriment of a werewolf. But there was nothing related to the spells used against Antonio’s body to fight Xavier. There were no spells on necromancy, and I doubted the witch, Carmila, was a necromancer. “This is enough. Time to get out of here.” I dropped the spellbook back into the position where I found it and tried my best to cover up every trace of my getting to the book.
