I felt like I only have a few hours of sleep. I sigh and get on my feet. I didn't bother wearing a slipper but I didn't forgot my silk robe before walking out of the room barefooted. The cold marble floor feels good to my sole. I don't really wear slipper when I am at home especially when I am in my apartment except when I am on a mission. I need to be careful not to leave any finger print or foot print that will lead to my identity.

I can't see one of the pair of my shoes. "Your shoe? Why don't you check that side of the solar?, I remembered tossing it over there." "I did. I only saw one of them." I grudgingly stood up and cursed silently as I searched every damn corner, but one of her shoes seemed to have grown wings and flown off. "I guess you will have to spend the night here, eh?" "I won't. I will rather walk." "Pig head. You will freeze to death before you reach your room. You are wearing a light wool, no underwear, and no shoes. The only other option is to carry you back to your bed, but I'm in no mood for -."

I sat breathlessly and listened to the night, desperate to pull out the howl again. A deep howl softly echoed through the night. I scooted to the edge of my bed, ready to jump up and run out there. I slid silently over to the old dresser and pulled out a couple pairs of socks. My feet were still hurt, but with the extra cushioning, I was sure I would be able to walk. I grabbed Nathan's tennis shoes and slipped them on over the layered socks. I really didn't have any shoes here that I knew of. The shoes were still a little big, but it really didn't matter.

I love leggings because they are comfy but I don’t like my butt hanging out. I walk over to the door where our shoes are and put my tennis shoes on. Grab my small knife that I always carry on me and the room key and slip in to the pocket on the leg of my leggings. I slip out the door, closing it carefully behind me and go across the hall lightly knocking on the door. When it opens I smile. “I can’t sleep and want to go for a small walk. Would you like to come with me?” I ask Bailey softly. “Yeah sure. You know I don’t sleep much. Let me get my shoes on and I’ll be right out.” She says carefully shutting the door. I lean against the wall to wait on her.

He climbed into my bed and started browsing my collection of movies. I went to my wardrobe to keep my newly gotten shoes, Adrian really knocked me off my feet. I never expected him to do something like that. I looked back at him on the bed and he had all his attention on the movie he had selected. Smiling to myself and placing the shoes in the wardrobe, I walked to the wall and turned off the light then climbed into bed beside him.

I said, and she laughed, catching on with the joke. “You’d arrive barefoot and leave with a pair of shoes?” she said, and I smiled at her response. “That would be quite something, don’t you think?” I said, and she agreed with me. “Thankfully, that’s not the case tonight. The shoes are in a separate box under the bed,” she answered, and I dropped to my knees, scanning under the bed for the box. I saw them and slowly made my way towards the bed, reached for them, and slid them on. “They’re perfect too,” I said after a while.

Somewhere it will remain unnoticed. Finally I push it under my bed. I make it just in time. The door opens and Louisa walks in, looking at me with a frown. I quickly straighten myself. “I could not find my other shoe” I say throwing my hands in the air dramatically. “I am ready. Let’s go” I tell Louisa and march out the door. That was close.

She sat there, a light blanket around her bare shoulders, her face pinched in concentration. She turned when she heard him coming out, staring at him with a curious look. "Pajamas? At least so far. Oscar drops his keys and wallet while taking off his shoes at the front door. He has a table there and shoves his shoes under it so that they aren't in the middle of the walkway. I do the same. It's common in Florida for those of us born here to walk around barefoot, even outside. I never analyzed why. Maybe it's the constant warm weather. When I was a kid, my mom had to fight me to put shoes on when I went outside to play. It was the same with other kids in the neighborhood. I never wear shoes in the house, and I've noticed that Oscar is the same. Sometimes he'll just wear his socks but, the shoes come off at the door.
