“Go get some ice and fill the tub,” Devlin orders, completely snubbing Dustin's suggestion.

“Fuck it, Dustin! Hurry,” he yells, voice loud and severe. “I’m not losing this bargain,” softly, “I’ve looked everywhere for you. I’ve had to absorb hell damned souls than yours to find yours. You are the unluckiest person I know, Ria, and that is special. Trust me. Everything you touch breaks, everything handed to you rots or withers away and it is not by choice, it is how you were created. No wonder you don’t believe in angels, God.” He is rubbing little circles on my forehead, talking so lowly like singing a lullaby to send me to sleep.
