What Is Midnight's Quirk Novels & Stories

“No, little dove.” I stared at him. His thumb continued to trace slowly over my cheek. “But I do.” My eyes widened. “You have magic?” He nodded, his lips lifting slightly. I frowned, trying to make sense of that. “Then why did you need me?” His golden eyes held mine for a long moment. “Because some magic requires another person.” I swallowed. “Oh.” I looked down at the water between us, trying to understand what had happened. “So the light…”

The Midnight Call Maurice sat behind the massive oak desk in his private office, reviewing quarterly reports under the soft glow of a single lamp. The rest of the building was quiet, most staff long gone. He planned to probably work all through the night. He had tried calling Mia but she was not picking, so he assumed perhaps she was sleeping. When it was ten minutes past midnight, his phone vibrated sharply against the polished wood. An unknown number. He almost ignored it, until something instinctive made him swipe to answer.

"You are proving the Council right, nephew. You are unstable. Tearing apart your own home because a criminal lied to you?" Abram took a sip of his brandy, his hand trembling slightly. "Even if there were an antidote," Abram said softly, "it is likely too late. The girl was small… weak. Midnight’s Kiss works fast on the frail." Oreon froze. His hand paused over a thick, green-bound book. Midnight’s Kiss. He hadn't named the poison. The Healer hadn't named it in front of Abram. Oreon turned slowly. He looked at his uncle.

She quipped, finally recovering from her hysterics. “Sort of.” As I confessed, heat crawled down my neck. “I enjoy the thrill of it.” “Enigmatic fuck-tard, is that it?” Finally, a taunting smile broke her lips. “Does that mean he’s hot?” “Six-pack rock abs.” I giggled, and she shrieked again. “Alright, tonight we’re going to have a sleepover, and no. I won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.” Nancy declares before I could protest. Determined to unmask my midnight phantom.

I should have left a note for Liam. My stomach feels like it’s in my throat. I’ve never been so scared. I feel a tingle in my hand and I look down just in time to see a crackle of light come out of my finger, I know that was real. I wonder if I can control it. I focus on my finger and picture the light shining through my skin. I feel a tingle and look down. My fingers and hand are beginning to light up the dark room around me. A hand grabs me by the hair and slams me in the ground hard.

I opened the chat, my thumbs trembling. > Mr. Logan: What's the meaning of this? See me tomorrow morning. First thing. I blinked, completely confused. Why would he be texting me at midnight? Then, I looked at the message above his text. It was a video file. A four-minute, high-definition video file. I clicked it. The screen opened to show my own bedroom, my own thighs spread wide, revealing my swollen wet pussy and juice leaking out of it. The loud, echoing sound of my own voice whimpering and moans.

“Do you know what else?” “What?” I snap. “They all worked for me.” I pause for a second, sucking in a breath. “They tricked him.” He nods. “And he fell for it. Once the spell was cast, sure he became a beast in battle, but it has haunted him for the rest of his life. Not only that, but they tied it to me because they needed an anchor that would live for all times and ensure you two kept coming back. Now, do you understand?” I softly laugh under my breath. “And let me guess. This all took place at midnight and that is why midnight is significant.”

Charlie made another chime-noise. (Translation: AN ASTRAL WHAT NOW?) Rivener snapped, “Stay back—she’s scared.” Adrian ignored him. “Only unbound shifters take forms touched by the moon. This is power older than any pack—” Charlie tried to step back and promptly fell sideways, legs going everywhere. Rivener darted to her side and caught her before she faceplanted into a bush. “Easy. You’re okay.” Charlie made a frantic chiming sound. (Translation: I AM NOT OKAY.)

It wasn't long before she found out that she could read everything despite very slowly. It was a poem, which read as follows: 'It was the Coming of the Midnight Sun, A daughter of the Sacred Wood, Lay in a chamber of the House of the Moon, And thus shall wither like a dying star Til the touch of a virgin at dawn.'

Midnight, “Who remembered me so late at night?” I wondered. I opened the message. The number was unknown to me. The message was saying: ‘What are you doing?’ “Are they kidding me? What could I do for such an hour?” I thought. “Anyway, I will answer, and I will see.” I answered: “I am out grazing the sheep.” I waited for a little while, and the answer came: “That is funny. Are you going to milk it too? I mean, if you are okay.”
