What Is Zenless Zone Zero About Novels & Stories

"You! Great, just don't regret it when the time comes!" Lia stomped her foot. It was only natural for any ordinary Genetic Fighter to stay far away from places where there were lots of zombies. She just could not understand the weird request made by Lucas. … Lia led Lucas to a city. Before even entering the city, Lucas sensed that there were lots of zombies in it. "This is Zone D, the place with the most number of zombies.” Lia stared at Lucas. Currently, she was looking forward to seeing Lucas regret his actions.

I whispered. "I know," Zanele said, lowering her voice with reverence. "Everyone expects her to be this massive centerpiece. But that’s part of her magic. You have to come close. She draws you in." We stood in silence, observing the calm mystery of her smile, the knowing glint in her eyes. Zanele leaned over. "Fun fact: this room is so well protected, there’s not even any cell signal in here. Thick walls, signal-jammers—no distractions."

Massive, jagged red lines of data were projecting outward from the European continent, establishing a global, impenetrable sub-ether firewall across the entire eastern hemisphere. "The Iron Citadel," Reyes said, her voice tight. "The Archon knows we took out the Marianas and Neo-Tokyo. They aren't waiting for us to knock. They are actively weaponizing the atmosphere over Europe. Telemetry indicates they are establishing a localized, continent-wide Null-Zone. No Origin-Code frequency can penetrate it." Jax scowled around his cigar. "A Null-Zone? You mean our phase-tech won't work? We'll be fighting a World Council fortress with standard kinetics?"

I tap my fingers on the armrest, waiting for his answer. He proudly rests his back against the office chair and smiles. "Janet Johnson." I nod. Her name playing in my head. I get distracted from my thought when my phones' ringtone fill the room. I pick it up without wasting much time. "Boss." One of my men calls. "There is a problem." I look up at Seth then at the table. "What's that?" "The ship transporting our weapons, can't be found." "What!" I furrow my brows. "When did you realize this?"

My company let employees clock paid hours while petting the office cats, take unlimited vacation, and skip the time clock altogether. For a while, people called us a dream company. Then one of my employees posted online and accused the whole thing of being a kindness trap. He filmed the office as if it were paradise, but the caption told a different story: [Don't envy us. All of this was bought with our low pay and our youth.] The post went viral, and overnight, I became the fake-nice boss who bled his employees dry behind a mask of small kindnesses. The entire internet told my employees to run. Fine. I let them. I rolled out a new policy. Effective immediately, every flexible benefit

“This is where we hold the names too heavy to speak.” In the still zones—the quiet places that emerged where no one dares build machines—people gather to sit, not to speak. The rules are simple: enter with intent, leave with a question, never take more than you’re willing to lose. At the center of each zone sits an object left behind. Sometimes it’s a root-etching. Sometimes a shard of mirror. Sometimes just a folded piece of cloth with nothing inside. These are sacred. These are untouched.

I felt an irritation crawl through my skin as he referred to me as a 'girl'. "It was built for the New York top billionaires who wished not to be tracked," Zara continued. "Private dealings, hidden labs and all under the table rendezvous. Just name it. This zone ain't on their city maps." "No signals, no survelliance," Rodney added, flipping the final switch. "They'd hit a dead end even if they traced the explosion." The jet began to roll, slow at first, then steadily gaining momentum. "So we're invisible then?" I asked, still trying to process it all.

The Dark Side of Zenith Prime's Moon. Zero Hour + 3 Hours. The massive, pitch-black hull of The Sovereign silently glided out from the moon’s shadow. The colossal Zero-Point engines were completely muted in the vacuum of space, but the atmosphere inside the bridge was pulled taut as a wire.

Carson and Ruth followed behind her, their gear silent, signal cloaks already active. “This place shouldn’t exist,” Ruth muttered, scanning the horizon. “There’s no record of it anywhere. Not even in Corelight’s main archive.” “That’s the point,” Lena replied. “Tier Zero isn’t just off-grid. It was built for one thing only—survival after collapse.” A sharp beep pinged on her wrist module. The entrance beacon was still active—meaning someone, at some point, had returned. Or never left. Faiza’s voice came through comms from Geneva. “Thermal scan confirms residual heat signatures inside the compound. But no movement.”

Worked like a charm every time. Zane, though? Dude was on his show-off grind. He’d bugged the Council into letting him flex his new shield setup right on the spot. It was this basic energy field around Val’s spot, lines of light shooting out from the floor, forming a grid that buzzed when random people got near. If they crossed the line, zap. Tiny shock. Not bad enough to drop them, but enough to make them jump and squeal like they stepped on a tack. “Check this shit out,” Zane said to some bug-eyed lady noble. “It’s a basic zap wall with heartbeat lock. Only lets in peeps whose pulse matches hers or mine. Kinda sweet, huh? Like a ‘fuck off unless you’re family’ sign.”
