Xen asked. Carlos shook his head. "No but the moment the ghost enters into this, there's a chemical I put around it that completely sucks the life out of the ghost making it disappear just like vapor." Xen nodded. "I like it. So what is it called?" He asked. "I call it the exterminator," Carlos said as Xen smiled. "Good work." "Xen, I think you'd better come to check this out," Jason called as Xen and the other members joined in.

Mom chimed in quickly, "Yeah, Suzy, don't pick a fight with her. She hardly ever comes home, just for New Year's. They can crash in the guest room, and you guys take the master." Our place did not have any fancy floor heating, and out of all three rooms, the guest room was the only one without a heater. With the mercury dipping below freezing, how could Mom stand for that? Suzy snorted, "Doesn't she have her own place? Dragging her kid back to her parents' for the holidays, isn't she worried about the gossip?" I shot up from my seat, fuming, "Since when do I need your okay to come back to my own house?"

He roared at the host, "Turn it off! Turn it off right now!" The USB drive had been given to the host by a friend of the bride, so he had no idea about the shocking contents it held within. Knowing that he had made a grave mistake, the host rushed over to the computer to turn off the video. However, no matter what he did, he couldn't stop the recording from playing.

"You... You bitch. You bastard with no parents. A curse like you deserves to be beaten to death." Elowen’s words drove Mrs. Rothschild completely insane. She lost all reason and lunged forward to grab Elowen by the hair. But at that very moment, everyone present except Elowen shuddered. An icy chill crept up from the back of their necks and spread rapidly through their bodies. "Why do I suddenly feel so cold?" One of the servants looked around in fear. Hospitals were known to be places where many restless spirits lingered, and they could not help wondering if a ghost had just brushed past them.

Only the streetlight still shone, its yellow glow falling across the empty crosswalk. Dad stared at that patch of road for a long time. "Let's go," Mom said softly. Dad came back to himself and started the car again. When they got home, everything was exactly as it had been. The two Barbie dolls, one new and one cracked, still sat on the coffee table. Beside them was the cake box that no one had put away, and the slice of strawberry cake left for me. The air still smelled faintly sweet.

In the moonlight, a woman in a white lace dress was kneeling on the stone steps of the chapel, her face buried in her hands, her shoulders trembling. She had no feet. Below her dress, there was only a swirling black mist. "I see her." Lorenzo let out a low whistle. "Two years ago, Marco put her in the ground right there. Her ashes are buried under the rose bushes behind the chapel." I didn't stop, walking straight toward the chapel. Giovanni froze behind me but didn't dare to call out. As I reached the bottom of the steps, the female ghost's head snapped up. She lunged at me, her face a sickly pale green, her eye sockets empty black pits.

Under normal circumstances, I would’ve brought a larger team. These weren’t normal circumstances. The more people involved, the greater the chance of information leaking. And right now, I trusted very few people. Cross & Sons Funeral Home sat near the end of a deserted block. The building looked abandoned from a distance. Most of the windows were boarded up, and years of neglect had left the brick exterior stained and cracked. A rusted sign hung crookedly above the entrance, swaying slightly whenever the wind picked up. It looked dead. Which made it the perfect place for ghosts to hide.

By the time Richard arrived, the funeral was almost over. Everyone who had come to say goodbye was gone. Only I remained. I wanted a little more time with Chloe. She'd always been clingy. And she was afraid of the dark. "Richard, see? I told you Selena was lying. If this were really a funeral, why is nobody here? This is obviously another stunt to get you to come home." Jane asked walking toward Kim in unhurried strides stopping just an inch away from her. "Ever heard of personal space?" Kim said with a raised eyebrow motioning for Jane to move back. She took immense pleasure in watching the frustrated look on Jane's face.
