I am dropping into an abyss of darkness, freefalling into a pit of despair. They say that your life flashes before your eyes when you stare death into the eyes…well, that is BULLSHIT. The only thing flashing in front of these eyes is the fury that I am feeling as a fire sets course from my core to every corner of my body.

“Probably” “So what the hell am I going to do to get to the bottom of this? Only one day with her made me do and say so many things I would have never thought I am capable of! She turned me into the worst version of myself and what’s annoying is that it only keeps proving her false assumptions! She is fucking driving me crazy, man. Being cruel doesn’t work and being kind doesn’t work either! I won’t kill her and I won’t send her away without learning what this is all about! So what?”

Is this my fate now? "Why does this always happen to me?" I sighed, feeling the oppressive heat caress my body like an unwelcome embrace. Through the shattered stained-glass windows of the decaying cathedral, I could see the infernal fires burning relentlessly. Flames danced across the desolate landscape, casting grotesque shadows that flickered against the ashen sky. Rivers of molten lava flowed in the distance, their glow illuminating the ruins with a hellish light.

But I don’t dare move a muscle or make a sound, fearing Xander will lose a body part. Fear is no longer a word I’d use to describe what I’m feeling. Neither is horror or terror. The Bible describes hell as a place where there’s wailing and gnashing of teeth for all eternity. Who would’ve thought it’s a place on Earth. My soul dies with each blow to Xander’s back until it feels like I’m nothing but a hollow shell. Somewhere in my mind, something snaps, and I start to zone in and out of reality. Don’t kill him.

If hell exists, there's an inferno waiting for me. I swerve around a pothole on the blacktop. In less than fifteen minutes, all hell will break loose. I survived seven years in prison, but my chances of surviving what's next are about nil. The men riding behind me know what we're heading into and, like me, they're ready to die.

I chuckled loudly, “Hudson will get you, but I will get to you first. That’s a promise, daddy!” “Get the fuck out of my phone!” he spat through the speakers and right then the line ended. And then I made up my mind, “No one’s getting out of this,” I said under my breathe, “No one will be left unhurt here! Since you all want me to go to hell, then let’s go together. Let’s all go burn in hell together people!”

“Go fuck yourself.” The torment started again. It went from Level 3, to 4, to 5, till I lost count and couldn’t see, feel, breathe, or think. I was like a dead body hanging on to a ripping thread of life. One more time, and I would fucking die.
