Grace, unable to bear the weight of her conscience, had given me a heads-up, so I knew this day would come eventually.
I nodded slightly and opened the door, letting Henry inside.
"Have some hot tea. When did you get here?"
Looking startled by my calm demeanor, Henry quickly replied, "Oh, no, I just got here."
I glanced at the thin layer of snow on his clothes and nodded, not bothering to call him out on the lie.
Suddenly, Henry grabbed my hand. Before he could say anything, his scorching tears fell onto my skin.
