In Abigail’s heart of hearts, she already knows, she has a special admiration for Debbie since the day they met. Abby hasn’t forgotten the days she felt the special connection, though it may not mean anything to Debbie but mere thoughtless words. She can vividly recall; it was their first meet up, as Debbie whispers to her ears and said, “I prayed for you when you’re sick.” Abigail was puzzle when Debbie did know she was sick; in fact, she was not ill during that time. It remains a mystery to Abby why did Debbie whisper those words. It was a sweet melody that touches her soul.

He immediately approached to help and asked in a whisper, "How are you? Did you learn anything new about it?" Raia looked around first before slowly arranging the books on the shelves. "For now, there's not much. But last night, I heard loud noises near the women's bathroom. I don't know who or what caused that sound, but when I went to the bathroom at night, I saw a human figure on the wall. I'm sure all the women were already asleep at that time, and I can't be wrong; that person was huge, no doubt. It could be a ghoul," he said flatly, without hesitation.

Her tongue darted out and licked her lips. Reggie’s heart was pounding so loud he could hear it. “Don’t look at me like that,” he whispered. “Like what?” she breathed. “Like you want me to do things to you. Unholy things..." The words hung there, heavy and trembling. Cassie’s lips parted, but she couldn’t speak. Her pulse fluttered at her throat, and Reggie could feel the heat radiating between them. His thumb brushed her lower lip, lingering there for a heartbeat too long. His eyes searched hers, silently begging for something, permission, maybe.

Faces twisted, voices fractured into a chorus of shouts and sobs, all bleeding into one another until everything drowned in red.

“You’ll need it.” I laid back, arm over my face, letting the silence take over. Pain throbbed through my leg, but exhaustion hit harder. My eyelids slipped shut. And then I slipped into dreamland. Fire. All around me. Trees crackling, sky glowing red. Wolves howled—dozens of them—trapped in the blaze. I turned, searching for a way out, but the smoke choked the air. Then I heard the voices. Whispers. Old and dry, like wind through dead leaves.

Her voice merged with the currents, blending into the whispers of the night as the breeze carried her plea. In her trance, she turned to the fire, focusing on the faint flicker of the lantern nearby. She coaxed its flames higher, allowing the warmth to wash over her. It felt alive, an ancient, restless spirit as eager to respond as the wind had been. “Tell me what you see,” she urged the fire, hoping it might reveal some vision of Johnson or Leonora. But it only crackled softly in reply, offering her warmth without answers. The flames licked upward, illuminating the darkened sky, as if inviting her to reach further, to push harder.

The whispers. The accusations. The years of rejection. It all crashed together in one overwhelming wave. Her breathing quickened. “I didn’t do anything,” she said softly. But her voice trembled. Maris scoffed. “Of course you didn’t.” The sarcasm cut deep. And suddenly— The air shifted. Silver’s emotions surged beyond her control. A pulse of energy burst outward from her chest. The torches surrounding the clearing flickered violently. The massive bonfire at the center crackled as flames whipped sideways in a sudden gust of wind.

Whispers, speaking incoherently. She clamped her hands over her ears, wanting it to stop. But the whispers only grew louder, pounding inside her head, threatening to make her go insane. "Nooo," she cried out, clutching her head tightly. "Make it stop... pleaseeeeee..." The whispers intensified, bearing down on her like a heavy burden. The pain expanded, taking over her body and making her writhe in agony. Suddenly it all stopped. The whispers, the pain, the burning sensation. They were totally gone.

"There are voices of people that linger when their lives are unjustly taken from this earth," Crystal said. "Voices of blood, and people who can't get justice for themselves. These voices belong to the souls of the dead, and the innocent. They can haunt you, torment you, and even try to kill you if they are strong enough. They are like air. They can't be seen. They can't be touched. They can be felt, but mostly through one's hearing. They glide in the air. The strong wind can stop them, and so can fire. Nature doesn't necessarily stop them, but anything too loud for you to hear them can temporarily stop them. And that is why they are called whispers.

"I have not killed anyone, I swear it! I will not bring disaster." The wolves kept moving without even the slightest bit of hesitation. Either they couldn't hear her, or they simply just didn't believe her/me. Streaks of silver interrupted the bright reds, oranges, and blues of the flames around me. I looked at one as it passed. It was moving so quickly that it almost looked like shooting stars…but that would be impossible down on earth.
