The Golden Dragon's Princess
She had just appeared one day with Ashara.
“I am from Diyet Noyr, Princess,” she said quietly. “When your army passed through my town, I joined.”
“Why?” I wondered. I did not get the sense from her that she was comfortable with me, nor a willing maid.
“Well, princess, my brother joined the army, and he is my only family,” she began to weave my hair into two braids. “Ashara said that I could serve you. A maid to the future queen of Uyan Taesil is a good position for an orphaned village girl, like me,” she sounded uncertain. “I hope that I please you, princess.”
