Hopelessly Devoted
I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Claus nodded, his hand reaching out to gently wipe away my tears. "You're welcome," he said. "You're free now, Delilah. You can start again."
As I looked at Claus, I asked him, "How did you know where their graves are?"
Claus's expression turned somber, and he said, "Raphael was the one who had them buried here. He had your baby buried beside Betty."
I felt a lump form in my throat as I processed this information. Raphael, the man who had betrayed me, had done something so kind and thoughtful for me. It touched my heart, and for a moment, I felt a pang of forgiveness towards him.
