I tried to run, but my legs wouldn't move. He had drugged me in the car. My consciousness blurred; I had to focus just to stay awake. I was done for. If anyone could save me now, it would have to be my phone. But it had been smashed by Thomas and left behind on the road. Despair consumed me… until the distant roar of a car engine reached my ears. Thomas frowned, hid the knife behind his back, and warned me to stay quiet. Then he went to check outside. What happened next, I don't know. When I woke, I was lying on the side of a road. The sky was completely dark. No one was around.

My lungs burned with a cold, chemical fire. I wasn't in a park. I wasn't on a desk. I was in a dark, cold room filled with the hum of a thousand cooling fans. I was naked, covered in a thick, translucent gel, and there were tubes—real, rubber and plastic tubes—plugged into my spine and my throat.

It soon moved to the place where there would be a part towards the address that was stated on the paper that was given to the to lift them. And they didn’t know what was happening on the other side of the world where Herald was placed. ‘You are finally awake. Thank goodness’ Herald thought to him self as he didn’t really want to speak. Chapter 1: The Awakening In the heart of the ancient forest of Eldoria, where shadows danced among the towering trees, a young woman stirred from a deep slumber. Her name was Elara, and she had been lost in a dreamless sleep for centuries, trapped within the embrace of an enchanted grove. As she opened her eyes, the world around her seemed both familiar and foreign. The air was thick with the scent of moss and magic, and the soft glow of twilight filtered through the canopy above. Taking a deep breath, she opened the book. Words formed in the air, shimmering like liquid silver: “To awaken, you must see yourself as the blood sees you.” Evelyn blinked. The letters seemed to float, twisting in shapes she couldn’t comprehend. A warmth spread through her veins, and suddenly, the room shifted. She wasn’t in the chamber anymore. She was standing in the forest, the same forest that had called her name countless times before.

The city outside was still glowing faintly, its hum softer but steady. She stumbled to the window, her heart racing. Across the skyline, faint trails of light rose from rooftops — people waking, each carrying a trace of the dream. Some cried. Others laughed. No one spoke. Down on the street, a group of children were drawing glowing lines across the snow, tracing patterns that shimmered in sync. Raven realized they were replicating the resonance waves — instinctively, joyfully.

Elara ------ She woke at five. Not with anxiety — with the specific alertness of a day that had been coming for a long time and had finally arrived. She lay in the dark for a few minutes listening to the city below, already awake, already moving through its ordinary business entirely unaware that somewhere in its morning a book existed that was about to change how some of its people understood the world they lived in. Julian was already awake beside her. She felt it without looking. "Publication day," he said.

She apologizes, and then she walks out. The moment I hear the door close shut, I wake up from the couch and I head to the bar not too far from the living room. I pull out an expensive bottle of liquor and I don’t even bother to pour it into a glass; I open it up and drink a big gulp. My throat burns as the alcohol slides down it. ***Linda Wells’ POV*** It’s the next morning and I don’t remember how I fell asleep last night. All I remember was crying so much until I had no more tears.

Okay, this had to be a joke of some sort. “What is awakening?” She blinked, looking genuinely confused. “You did the ritual, didn't you?” I shook my head, certain the confused look on her face mirrored mine. “The book,” she pointed. “You spoke the word… you placed your hand on the mark. You activated the summoning.” I shook my head, still trying to wrap my head around this. “I just read something from that book. I didn’t know it meant anything.” Elarien floated a bit closer, but stayed at a cautious distance. “Well regardless, you did awaken me, the book is a catalyst to my soul.” she turned around as if taking in the room.

Nyra stepped back as the world around us tore itself open in a spiral of moonlight. “Go,” she commanded. “Breathe again. Walk again. Change everything.” The doorway behind us shattered.
