“Don’t bother. Milka already convinced me to be Olaf for Halloween.” My lips formed a grin, and I turned my face toward him. “For real?” He shrugged. “She agreed to let me be zombie Olaf.” “Unbelievable.” I laughed as Conor called for Milka. She whined in protest until he mentioned the c-word—“candy.” I had quickly come to realize that Milka’s absolute favorite thing in the world was Sour Patch Kids, and that Conor always seemed to have a stash of them somewhere around his person. He used them for anything, including bribery.

I loved Lena to death, but God, she gave me shitty advice. Wanda scribbled a few things on her pad and laughed with my friends before returning to the bar for their drink order. I was slowly building up my courage and grabbed the paper. “The usual, I presume?” I asked Wanda as I looked at the written drinks. “Yeah. And the lady with them wants a Tie me to the bedpost. Figures…” Wanda added, rolling her eyes. “What the heck is that anyway?” I groaned. “It’s citron vodka, coconut rum, melon liquor, sweet and sour mix and 7-Up,” I said and prepared their order. Once everything was ready, I put the glasses on a tray and wiped the stress sweat rolling off my forehead.

Lily is practically vibrating with glee. Nikolai lifts her up with one hand like and sets her on a stool at the counter. “Alright, princess. You get first pick. Nikolai just smiles. “We'll have that with two vanillas.”

When he realized what I was doing, he blinked and faltered a step. “Thanks.” He grasped the door just above me so I could let go of it and continue ahead of him. Charlie was tapping her chin and studying the pizza selection while Darcy had paused at the slushy machine, so I went to the coolers, opened a door, and pulled out a cherry Dr. Pepper. After finding some Twizzlers, a Whatchamacallit, and Funyuns, I spotted Wick at the coolers as well, picking out a low-carb health drink.

“From the kitchen. And a bottle of vodka.” Wilma jumps at the request with the eagerness of someone itching to be useful. She darts to the kitchen and returns with two high-backed chairs from the small dining table and an unopened bottle of Belvedere. I’m impressed with how fast she gets them, and curious, maybe even a little suspicious as to how she knew the location of the vodka.

In the glass's bottom, small white pearls danced in liquid. “It’s kinda like boba tea. Have you ever had that back on Earth?” I shook my head, taking the glass. “Oh, well, it’s like tapioca. Except here, it’s like mini shots of Everclear.” Willa laughed manically, already hiccupping. “Sorry, Orion said, to have fun.” “Here, here,” Daine swallowed another glass down. Deciding to sip, and I do mean small sips, Willa and Daine drilled me how big Creed’s, ‘massive bamboo stick is.

He just stared at me like I was the approved dealer of all good things. “Is it okay?” I asked Aurora. She shrugged lightly. “One is fine.” I bought him one—blue and pink mixed—and the vendor handed him this cloud of sugar almost bigger than his head. Alex gasped. “It fluffy!” He touched it with one finger. “It sticky!” Then he looked up at me and whispered like it was a secret conspiracy, “Mommy say sugar make me hyper.” “Does it?” I asked. “Yes,” he said proudly. “I run fast.”

“Ugh. That’s disgusting.” “Better disgusting than dead,” Kira muttered. Just then, Captain Zack walked up behind us, chewing his gum as usual, his sunglasses still on despite the shadows under the trees. “What’s that you’re drinking?” he asked, looking from me to Kira. I glanced at Kira, unsure what to say. Kira was quick. “Good luck, voodoo herbs.” I gave a stiff nod. “Yeah, you know, just to keep the bad spirits away.” Zack's brow lifted. “No shit?”

She made her way to the parking lot and placed the gift box in her car. Taking it out, she saw a note and four plastic bottles of drinks. She took out a note from the box, and the handwriting seemed just like Zach's own. It read, "My princess, who else would I trust except you? I value your judgment so much and this is why I need your help. I was having a meeting earlier today with Williams, and we are trying to go into the production of beverages. I came up with the formula for this drink. I want you to have a taste of one, probably the one that has the orange color. It has a much nicer taste.

She checked the IV and then left. Juicy was still wearing a grimace as she digested the idea of being in a coma. Mr. Cracker lifted the lid off the tray. "Are you hungry?" "No." Juicy responded absently. After a quiet moment she noticed Mr. Cracker eyeing the tray of food with interest. "You can have it." There was soup, a flat sandwich and a small plastic container of JELLO. He didn't wait for her to repeat the offer. He picked up the sandwich and munched on it happily.
