When I felt like I was being shoved off a ledge, I flipped them open and fell onto another plane. Above a dry riverbed at the outskirts of a parched valley of empty land, I hovered in midair overlooking a battle between wolves, but not just ordinary wolves. These wolves had a body hue of blue-black, a mane of white hair at the neck resembling a lion's, and a white-tipped tail. They were equine height and had insignias on their foreheads. A rose gold feather was on one of them. Where had I seen that before? I couldn't recall. So, I returned my focus to what was playing out before me.

“You can’t shield me and survive this.” His eyes flicked to hers, fierce despite the pain. “Try and stop me.” Before she could speak again, the wolves lunged, not at her, not at him, but at the sky. Their glowing bodies arched upward, merging their light into a single beam that struck the winged beast above. The creature flared brighter, its wings expanding until the ruins glowed with blinding white. Ryder grabbed Sienna and pulled her down as light blasted across the stones.

The sky, once empty, was now filled with distorted shapes cutting through the clouds. Winged creatures — but none were ordinary birds. Some had leather wings, others silver feathers, but none looked natural. One looked like a grotesque cross between a raven and a panther. Another had the head of a wolf and a body covered in scales, its eyes glowing an unhealthy blue. All of them had someone riding on their backs. Warriors. Black armor, spears in hand. Heading their way. Aurora took a step back, but the sounds of hooves and paws behind her made her turn around.

Suddenly, a growl cut through the silence. Kael spun to face the sound, his body shielding mine. Out of the shadows emerged five massive wolves, each bearing crimson-streaked fur and eyes glowing silver. They wore armor fashioned from bone and black iron, tribal markings carved into their muzzles and shoulders. These weren’t the wolves from our world. They were something more primal. More warlike. The lead wolf shifted mid-step, rising into a tall, muscular man with skin the color of dark earth and runes burned into his chest. He studied us with curiosity, then suspicion.

Wouldn't leave everything behind. The two wolves got closer. Realized I was standing above them. The larger of the two looked up at me. Cocked his eyebrow up at my hair whipping in the wind. From the looks of him, he was surely the son of an Alpha. Or the grandson. The other wolf was small by comparison.

All the warriors were conditioned to live life as if they were in active battle so they moved without urgency or fear as we embarked on one of the greatest journeys of our pack. “Let’s end this,” I said. He followed behind me as we went to where the others were gathered. There were over two hundred wolves that would start the operation and we had several backups, all of whom would come after us. We would devastate Blood Moon hard and fast. I shifted. My senses sharpened. The ground underneath quivered with the paws of so many wolves moving at once in the same direction. Blood Moon didn’t know we were coming. Not yet. By the time we got to the borders, their soldiers were just changing shifts

Like reading minds, hurting people by looking at them, controlling water, teleporting, speaking to animals and so much more. They said that the first Fire Wolf Agnitus was able to set anything on fire where he set his eyes on.” Lola understood by now that they were all dead serious about this, so she asked, “So what happened to them? “

Another roar rumbled the Earth but this time it was not what sucked the life out of me. The men in front of my eyes had turned into monsters. Unnatural and terrifying big wolves. Not wolves... these wolves stood up like humans. "Oh, my Lord! Make it a delusion." I mumbled as my wits left me. The monster-cum-Jordan eyes fell on me when I tried to make an attempt at life. He snatched me up by the waist in his claws. "God, let it be a dream! Please!" I took a breath in to shout my heart out as my last ditch effort before death when another scream breached the cruel forest.

I wasn't going down without a fight. Soon Tyce was next to me, and I saw the resemblance between his wolf's and Jasmine's. Both wolves were brown, but while Jasmine had a white belly and toes, his was pure brown with black-tipped fur, like a huge grizzly bear. His amber eyes glared evilly at the enemy, as he fought like a maniac. I'd never seen anything like it. In his wolf form, he was completely feral and unpredictable, ready to kill mercilessly, and I suddenly understood the reputation his pack had—they were definitely not werewolves you ever wanted to fuck with. His warriors similarly followed suit, being a huge advantage in our fight.
