Wingless and Beautiful

Wingless and Beautiful

It had a diamond in the center, surrounded by an intricate carving design that got me curious the first time I saw it. Hunter took my hand and slipped the ring on my finger. It was only then that I recovered from my shock. I finally made out the design of the ring. The two-carat diamond center was surrounded by smaller diamonds that make out the shape of wings—like angel wings. Then he showed me the matching ring. It had a thicker band. The pattern revealed a sword with a small round diamond on its hilt. “This ring is mine. A symbol of my promise to always protect you… take care of you… guard you,” he said in a solemn voice. He placed the ring on his finger and then he raised his eyes to loo

Beautiful love story, one of the most unique plots I’ve read so far with. Very touching & emotional but still realistic. Also it’s rare plotpoint that Hero & heroine are each other’s firsts. Technically well-written - no grammatical errors! Wish there were more Hero’s POV, but loved it anyway.

Wow, truly beautiful story. Started out fast and kept improving. Cried a lot in the beginning (had to pause until I calmed down). Also, laughed at times. The characters were very mature and I’m glad Hunter and Alice were able to overcome the trauma in their lives. Well written. Worth reading.

she explained walking over to the wooden beam and leaned her shoulder against it. “ I don’t think differently of you. You should have told me, I would have made sure your training was set up accordingly. I actually have a couple of warriors who are half breeds and who can’t shift. They don’t go in first in a war or battle but they are there in the way they choose to be.” I explain to her hoping that helped “ thanks but I don’t need to be reassured on how I’m capable on being useful to the pack” she sighed standing up straight walking down the steps

Everyone is approaching the ring and we do the same and, pushing and shoving, we manage to get in the front row as many of them are drunk. -WELL! FIRST WE HAVE A TITAN WITH TEN FIGHTS WON AND TWO LOST WILLIAM THE DESTROYER!- he introduces and some boo and others cheer as they watch him climb into the ring. He's almost six feet tall and has a lot of muscle mass so I'm guessing he'll be slower although that's not completely known. He has his hair shaved to one and brown eyes - AND SECOND BUT NOT LESS IMPORTANT WE HAVE A CHAMPION WITH TWENTY FIGHTS WON AND ZERO LOST, THE DEVIL CAMBELL - this time there are very few people booing him and almost everyone cheering him on. As soon as I see him get

“Remi! I found him!” “Who Jade?” “My mate! It’s Beta Taylor Williams!” “Is that a good thing?” “Yes! He’s fucking hot!” Jade laughed. “I’m happy for you both Jade!” Screaming over the music. Taylor always seemed nice. He was very tall, not as tall as Alpha Wyatt but close. He has teal eyes and really blonde hair. Jade found her mate and he’s good looking an nice, so I’m relieved she was blessed by the moon goddess. Jade is an Omega, so his rank is a good thing as well for Jade. I hope my mate is kind and handsome as well. Whenever I do find him, if I get lucky soon after I turn 18.

Sorin said as his lips threatened to break open into another grin. "Sheesh you don't even know how useful this weapon you uncultured swine.! Just ask Eugene he will tell you just how useful this weapon is!" Eira huffs out defiantly. "Who?? Who is this E-Eugen??" Sorin asks confused. "Not Eugen it's Eugene, you know the dashing bandit who's nose always ends up getting skewered on the wanted posters?" Eira says as she looked at him if he understood. Sorin still looked confused.

Ravens pov Man that was the hottest thing I have ever seen, not to mention the beauty of the woman in front of me, I have been around a lot of gorgeous woman in my life and even fucked a lot of them but none of them came close to this woman. She just turned around like nothing happened and sat down to put her knee high black boots on, like it was the most natural thing to happen. The same guards as before came in again and just shook their heads at the rouge, showing no signs of sympathy for the man dying on the cell floor. "Now how did we know that was going to happen" he chuckled and ordered one of the other guards to take the rouge out of the dungeon, he waited until the hallway was clear

She crossed her arms over her chest and stood glaring at him. She wanted to play it this way, did she? Fine. He dumped the clothes on the pallet and glared back. Removing his sage green Henly, he bared his broad, well-muscled chest and arms. He let her take in his clan's distinctive wolf tattoo covering his left shoulder. Runes of protection adorned his impressive torso, climbing up from the flat plains of his stomach to the slabs of hardened muscle covering his ribs. As he dropped the shirt to the ground, he saw the hint of her pink tongue come out to moisten her lips.

Ravi slammed the door behind him and was startled to find Adrian floating by the window, his wings flapping, hands folded across his chest, wearing a smug expression. He knew all too well that this creature was the one responsible for the chaos Ravi had just experienced. Ravi quickly moved to the window, fists clenched in anger, a sharp gaze directed at him with disapproval. He opened the window with a loud creak. "You're the problem here."

Frequently Asked Questions

The ending of 'Winger' by Andrew Smith is one of those that lingers in your mind long after you turn the last page. It's raw, unexpected, and brutally honest—much like the rest of the book. The story follows Ryan Dean West, a 14-year-old rugby player at a boarding school, and his journey through friendships, first love, and self-discovery. The climax hits hard when his best friend, Joey, dies in a tragic accident. This moment shatters Ryan Dean's world, forcing him to confront grief, guilt, and the fragility of life. The aftermath isn't neatly wrapped up; it's messy, just like real life. Ryan Dean doesn't magically 'get over it,' but you see him start to process the loss and grow from it. The book ends with him returning to school, carrying Joey's memory with him, and you get the sense that he's going to be okay—not perfect, but okay. It's a bittersweet ending that feels earned, not forced.

What I love about 'Winger' is how it balances humor and heartbreak. Ryan Dean's voice is so authentic—full of wit, awkwardness, and vulnerability. The ending doesn't tie everything up with a bow, but that's what makes it resonate. It's a story about how life doesn't stop for tragedy, and how we keep moving forward even when it feels impossible. The last scenes with Ryan Dean and Annie, his girlfriend, are tender but understated, showing how love and support can help someone heal without pretending to fix everything. It's a book that stays with you, not because of a dramatic twist, but because it feels so painfully real.
