The shadow creatures surged in endless waves, crashing against her fire dome like a sea of teeth and claws. Sera’s strength faltered. Blood ran from her nose, her mouth, her ears. Her fire sputtered. Her wings cracked. Adrien stirred, silver fire flaring faintly in his veins. His hand squeezed hers. “Let me go,” he whispered. “Save yourself.” Her eyes blazed, golden fire dripping from her lashes. “Never.” The dome shattered, Shadows poured in, crashing down, Sera’s scream rose like a second sun. She unleashed everything, every drop of fire left, a storm of gold that scorched the abyss.

“The world dies no matter what we do. I only want to rebuild it from the ashes.” The bond between us pulsed again, stronger, hungrier. I could feel the tug deep in my chest, like a string being pulled tighter and tighter. My own fire reacted instinctively, flaring bright against the darkness. Aaron lifted his hand. Shadows curled around his wrist like living tendrils. “You can’t fight it forever. The fire doesn’t belong to you alone. Arth found it impossible to dodge on air, so he cast Glacies Materia and summoned an enormous frozen shield in front of him to block the fire. The force itself, however, shoved Arth back, until he slammed against the roof of a building. He muttered a curse. The beast flew up once again. Then it charged down towards Arth, this time with its beak glowing, ready to blast another fire. Arth got on his feet, then lunged towards the side, landing on the next roof. The bird threw the fire, but it missed.

A legacy the Elders had tried to erase. She knelt beside Arthur and laid her palm on his heart. Light flickered in her fingers, soft and gold, as she drew from the warmth still coursing through the Hollow’s buried roots. The fire did not resist her anymore. It bowed. He stirred. Lips parted. Eyes fluttered open, fogged with pain. "I saw you," he murmured. "In the flames. You were... wings. Fire and sorrow." She smiled, though it ached to do so. "You always did see too much."

Then, I took out an A3 paper from the briefcase and spread it across the table. It was a curved flight path, overlapping on the city map. "This is the flight path of the Cessna with the registration number B-10YZ between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on the same day. This aircraft…" I stared at him. "…is owned by Zach Airways." A flicker of tension crossed Zachary's face. Under the light, his face turned as pale as a sheet as he swallowed hard. Mike fixed his eyes on the two documents for a long time before he gradually raised his head. "Mr. Zachary, this weather report…"

The fire burns black at the edges with streaks of gold twisting through it unnaturally, wild and alive.

His eyes were like a whirlpool oozing with honey as they drew me into the vortex. He ended the kiss too abruptly. I felt hot and uncomfortable as soon as his warm lips left mine. I was going to need to change out my underwear for some fresh ones. Austin held on to me tightly, resting his head against my shoulder. Then, he said slowly, "If I improve again next time, can I get another wish?" I could guess what he was going to say next. I gulped anxiously. "I want to be inside you." I looked into his eyes and realized that I'd found my answer. My eyes turned watery as I nodded at once, leaning forward to kiss him again.

She looked at the brook under the bridge and said, "Some things should just flow away like the water under this bridge. I actually wanted to sneak away when your father's parents tried to split us up, but your father got on his knees before me and begged me not to leave. "He told me he would die without me.
