Wings Of Fire Book Darkness Of Dragons の小説・ストーリー

Thank God she had no idea what was happening around her. So, the mask was coming off. It must have realized it had no power over him and could not sway him to kill Faye. It was revealing its true intentions. ‘Who are you?’ Eli asked. He struggled to keep his voice steady. This was not something he had ever faced before. ‘What are you?’ It laughed, its voice reverberating all around. The air seemed heavy and the smell of rotting, burnt flesh permeated the entire room. ‘I am of the darkness, sent to destroy your precious witch. Long we have waited for this moment.’

Her form shimmered, splitting, duplicating. "She’s merging with the shadows!" Emma yelled. "She’s becoming something else!" The Sophia-thing lunged forward, knocking them both to the ground. Just as she raised her claws for the killing blow, a roar echoed from the trees. Long burst into view, dragon wings unfurled and eyes blazing. She unleashed a cone of fire that engulfed Sophia in molten heat. Sophia shrieked as the flame tore into her shadow-woven body. She retreated, vanishing into black mist that fled deeper into the forest.

“You are not just fire. You are more. You carry every wolf, every soul, every drop of blood in this pack in your veins. Don’t let her break you. Burn brighter.” Raven’s claws trembled, her body aching, her fire nearly spent. But she saw her wolves—bleeding, broken, but still standing. Still fighting. For her. Selene’s serpents hissed, her new wings blotting out the battlefield as she rose above them. “Then burn,” Selene whispered, her voice a chorus of shadows. “And when your fire dies, the world will fall into my night.” Raven’s heart hammered. Her flames licked higher, silver and furious, wrapping her whole body until she looked less like flesh and more like a living inferno.

Black fire boiling through the clouds, chains thrashing like whips of night, wings slicing the air so hard the world tilts every time they beat. And the hand— Gods, the hand. It’s not a hand anymore. It’s a storm of bone and light, folding and unfolding in ways that make my stomach lurch. Every twitch breaks another piece of the City. Spires collapsing like sandcastles. Streets twisting into knots. And Kael—he’s holding it. Holding it. Chains binding its fingers, shadows dragging against its skin like barbed wire. His wings cut arcs of darkness so sharp they shear the air in two.

I reach deeper, indulging into forbidden spells and bringing them forth into existence. Fire bursts out of my palms, striking with different colours of flames, and I send it towards him. Doomsblood creates his own flame, swooshing with shadows and terrifying sounds of perished souls. The sound entails wailing souls and I can tell they want to swallow me whole. My fire against his shadows. As I burn brighter, he burns darker. My light brightens one half of the globe. His darkens the other half. He growls louder. I shrill tighter.

Stripes. Burning across my body like fire. The air itself seemed to change. The wolves hesitated. Just for a second. That was their mistake. I moved. Faster than before. Stronger. Unstoppable. I tore through them. No hesitation now. No strategy. Just dominance. One after another. They fell. Until only one remained. Celdor stepped forward. Finally. I tilted my head slightly, blood dripping from my jaw. “You should have stayed hidden.” He didn’t respond.

Put a heavy hand on my shoulder. “He’s a golden dragon, Leah. An army of frost wyrms is no match for him. They’re creatures of ice, and he breathes fire hot enough to melt steel. He’s young, yes. Inexperienced, yes. But his instincts are ancient. The dragon knows what it’s doing even if the boy is still catching up.” Another explosion of flame split the sky. Through a brief gap in the storm I saw a wyrm tumble downward, fire eating through its frozen scales as it spiraled toward the mountainside. The ground shook when it hit.

A deep, ancient growl echoed from the void. Selene and Nyra froze, swords lowered. Selene’s eyes narrowed. “No… this can’t be.” Nyra steadied her breath. “The prophecy... ” she whispered; “Mother of Ruin… Daughter of Flame… The sky cracks…” From the breach descended something beyond magic, an ancient presence, older than gods. A colossal form, coalescing from storm clouds: a dragon wrought of lightning and shadow, wings spanning the horizon. Its eyes glowed molten white; its roar shook the very foundations.

There was only one way that I could stop them. “Get out of the cave now!” I shouted at Ashton and the other guy. “Lina, I can’t leave you alone here”, Ashton said. “Go! I’ll find you”, I told him. When they had exited the cave, I stepped back and used my super heat vision on the fuel that was flowing from the jet’s fuel tank. The fire caught quickly and spread to the jet. It exploded in a quick manner before they managed to escape. I tried to be as quickly as I could and before I could get out of the cave, the force from the explosion threw me out of the cave.

Imagining he would move forward and pull me between his teeth. Devour me as all the rumors had claimed. Dragons were maneaters. Twisted and crude depictions of deities. Appointed by the devil. But I thought it was all hyperbole. I never thought for a moment the Drogos family could shift into dragons. I thought it was a metaphor for the horror they could inflict. The Drogos family were like dragons. Not that they were dragons. I don't think I could ever look at Thane the same again. He was a monster. A creature of the deep. And everyone knew.
