Pada tahun 2010, Kanto dibuat tercengang oleh sebuah kasus yang luar biasa fenomenal. Miyamoto Jiruchi, atau MJ, seorang gadis pemandu sorak di salah satu SMA di Kanto telah diculik, diperkosa, dan dibunuh. Keberadaannya tidak diketahui selama bertahun-tahun. Pencarian dikerahkan, penyelidikan disegerakan, tapi tidak membuahkan hasil. Tidak ada bukti yang kuat, tidak ada saksi mata yang mempunyai opini kuat yang bisa dijadikan sebagai bukti. Eren Tatsuya, teman MJ, sekaligus mantan pacarnya, terpaksa diinterogasi. Semua bukti yang diarahkan publik tertuju padanya. Ada alasan yang dapat diterima sebagai bukti kuat untuk membuatnya layak dianggap sebagai tersangka dalam kasus MJ. Hingga akhirnya dia didakwa dengan hukuman mati, meskipun bukti-bukti yang diarahkan padanya belum cukup kuat. Ajin Jaeger, seorang mantan narapidana Shibuya datang ke Kanto dan memberikan sebuah pengakuan yang fenomenal, bahwa dialah pelaku penculikan, pemerkosaan, dan pembunuhan MJ yang sebenarnya. Namun, eksekusi tinggal satu minggu lagi. Lalu bagaimana ia meyakinkan Jaksa, Hakim, dan Juri untuk bisa membatalkan eksekusi Eren Tatsuya sebagai orang yang tidak berhasil dalam kasus ini?
