Winter Books For Adults Novels & Stories

Tomorrow I’d need to go into town and figure out who to talk to about getting some firewood delivered. It’d be good to get a decent stock purchased before it really started to get cold—the last thing I wanted was to have to go out into the woods in the middle of winter to scrounge up fallen branches I could burn for warmth. I doubted that Grandma left me this place with the hopes that I’d freeze to death on my first winter. Taking a moment to sit in front of the fire and enjoy the warmth that I created, I ran my fingers through Stallone’s soft fur, watching the embers dance behind the glass.

Winter arrived gently. Snow fell like sifted sugar across the hills, covering the ravine behind their cabin in shimmering white. Emma stood at the window, sipping tea, watching the soft descent of silence. It was a different kind of winter than the ones at The Hearth less harsh, more introspective.

And she thought of the adults in the house, the friends outside, and the way each action, each word, could ripple outward. Gemma’s pen finally touched the page, moving almost of its own accord. She wrote of the porch, the wind, the laughter, the quiet moments and sharp edges. She wrote of the things people didn’t say, the secrets they carried, and the truths that were waiting, patient and unyielding.

Elena said, looking up to see the winter fairy spirit in front of her. “Is that what you think? Do you know what you're about to do? That book you possess is called the book of shadows which contains spells and magic that could lead to ultimate chaos and destruction! You must be very careful Elena when you use such spells.” The winter fairy said gazing at her. “How come I am able to read and understand these words. I know I haven't seen this kind of writing.” Elena said, handing the book to the winter fairy spirit.

Then paused before adding, “Wait! Send me the media asking for an interview.” I could hear the excitement in my PA’s voice before I disconnected the call. I opened the door to see the kitchen was a mess. Flour littered the floor, with some kitchen utensils scattered about. Upon walking closer, I saw Winter by the sink, her index finger under the running tap. “Are you okay?” I asked, rushing towards her. This caused her to turn to me. “I was bored, so I tried to bake,” she said, casually. “What happened?” I asked, but I didn’t need an explanation to know what had happened.

He stubbornly believed that if he also climbed that snowy mountain and endured what I did, I'd forgive him, or he could at least prove that his tough love parenting wasn't wrong. "I'm going to bring Julian home," he muttered to himself in front of the mirror. He was unshaven, his eyes wild and frantic. "Julian, I'm coming to get you. I brought you clothes." He slung on a backpack identical to mine. It was stuffed full of down jackets, hand warmers, and a thermos. None of which he'd given me back then. He set off alone for that snowy mountain. That day, the blizzard in the mountains was even fiercer than on Christmas Eve.

"Hmm, this is hard...I'm gonna choose owl city and before you exit. You?" "The 1975, Twenty-one pilots and owl city." "Song?" I asked. He paused to think then said, "Fireflies by owl city." I nodded in agreement...Hmm, he has a taste. "Mine is, I see fire by Ed Sheeran, Kill em with kindness by Selena Gomez, I won't give up by Jason Mraz, yeah plenty." Then I think about another question. "What is your favorite season?" "Winter." He said. I smiled, "Copycat. Mine is winter also." I said.

Winter always made her think of the lives that passed on, but also of new beginnings yet to come. The icy winds howled through the passes, seeking any gaps to invade the dens of the werewolves. Frost formed intricate patterns on the windows as the fires crackled inside, providing what warmth they could against the bitter cold. Townsfolk gossiped by their hearths, recounting stories of winters past when blizzards raged for weeks on end, isolating entire villages under mountains of snow.

Soon, old scandals resurfaced, banks withdrew loans, partners abandoned ship, and reporters besieged the mansion. Kirk updated me. "Richard blames it all on Olive, saying she colluded with outsiders to drain the company. Liam and Neal have cut ties with the Winters and are being hunted by Richard's enemies." I paused on a page—an equity certificate for a biotech company my mother owned. In my past life, Richard had obsessed over it but couldn't unlock its technological secrets. I closed the file. "Time to let him know what it feels like to lose everything." Three days later, the Winters Group declared bankruptcy.

GRAYSON A SECRET REVEALED Leila's still sleeping when I decide to take a walk. Something has been bothering her over the last couple days, she won't say, but her nightmares indicates that something is wrong. Winter has gotten worse, and I've gathered enough men to reinforce the bungalows, though as much as the cold doesn't necessarily bother us, extended exposure will render us immobile; just the same as humans. A werewolves internal heating can only stand so much, the same with wild wolves. It's the same reason they cudddle together in dens, as much as they hunt when needed.
