Without thinking, I jumped out from behind the table, desperation driving me. “STOP!” I shouted, my voice hoarse with fear and rage.
The witch didn’t even flinch. Before she could respond, I grabbed anything I could find—vials of liquid, jars, anything on the table—and started hurling them at her with all my might. The bottles crashed into her, spilling their contents across her dark robes. I didn’t know what I was hoping for—maybe a reaction, maybe some kind of sign that I was hurting her. But instead, she just stood there, unfazed, her eyes narrowing with irritation.
