I can't put a finger on it but something is wrong, the two witches seem to be chanting under their breath and the pendants are glowing. “Game on, old man” Enyo says, she shifts back into her small silver wolf that now holds the same white glow as her. Her wolf is small but it is stronger and faster than any other Alpha wolf I have ever seen. They start to circle each other, she snaps her teeth at him.

I reach into my jacket pocket once more, dropping a third bag of equal weight in coin onto the table.

"You're the only one. We haven't seen a witch in a while, but here you are " Scar stared at him, her pink lips pressed into a firm line. Her bright green eyes were narrowed in thought as she regarded him, and then her scowl deepened and she looked away, down at the twisting trees and the arrangement of rope bridges, platforms, and makeshift treehouses below. "That's right." Venom dripped from her voice as she spoke. "Wolves prefer to twist their victims' minds rather than take prisoners. Your kind takes a sick pleasure in destroying other races. If I ever get off these chains I will have you dead ."

I can't see what's inside, but Silvia begins to cry. Calla helps her sister attach little metal things that pinch the skin all over Silvia's body. When Euphenia flips a switch, Silvia screams in pain as her body convulses and she vomits. I smell burning flesh and feel like I'm going to be sick. Euphenia turns off the machine, and Calla takes the clips off of Silvia, who has passed out. The two witches turn to me with evil smiles. "That was on the first setting. For you, we'll put it on the highest setting. Are you ready?"
